I threw out my back today...

Yeah, so I trew out my back today for the first time. It's not the worst pain in the world but it really fucking sucks and I have alot of stuff to do today so...

Does anyone have any advice on how to work through this / get the pain to stop?

I'm doing the grandpa shuffle.. is there some trick to this shit? Can I bend myself the other way to make it stop? I keep trying but it really hurts :(

ice and ibuprofen. do not force it. Forcing it is a great way to do permanent damage.

I took some asprin. Is heat bad? Ice seems like it would really hurt right now / kinda afraid :(

It's going to take a while to heal. Just take it easy.
I threw my back out over a month ago and still feel some discomfort!

First time it happened to me as well. I've been told I need to work on my "core" muscles to help prevent it from happening again :)

Better yet Vicodin, the prescription kind.

I've always had more luck with a heating pad. Ice not so much.

If you do a lot of sitting, time to to take a look at how and what you are doing as I find thats 99% of where my problems stem from.

massage would be the best and take some rest. :)

I pinched my sciatic nerve. Ibuprofen works the best for me. Dont sit for too long and see a doctor.

A massage is a good idea. I go here when I can- Massage Envy, but I've been so busy lately it's been almost a year since I've been up there.

I through out my neck once. I was drying myself off from a shower and somehow i made a wrong turn. I almost passed out from the pain and couldnt move for like a week.

Lay on your back.

Bring your legs up so your knees are on your chest.

Grasp your legs behind your knees.

Pull with your legs away from your chest and at the same time pull your arms to keep them from going.

Pull as hard as you possibly can in both directions but let the legs barely win so that it takes 20 seconds or so to get the legs far enough away from the hands that you can no longer hold the backs of your knees.

Repeat once or twice.

Now get up. Your back should be some where around 25% to 40% better than it was.

Keep doing this exercise several times throughout the day.

Yep have done this one. You can also lay flat on your back. dig your fingers into your body just at the top inside of the hip bone. There is a muscle right there that wraps around to the back and will loosen up a lot with some pressure in there.

I do not use heat. Ice reduces the swelling and lets the area loosen up. Same with the ibuprofen.
