Please give your full thesis on why a .com is more credible than a .net specially when any crook with 8.88 could buy either.

Just see a lot of sigs trying to promote things like hornybigtitamateurs.net and the like, supposedly from a sponsor. No sponsor in their right mind will buy a .net unless it's really a goodie.

I have plenty of .tv's, .net's myself, but come on, not for a paysite or sponsor program.

.net which means that they make $3 a week if that, this is how it goes:
.com - lotsa $$$ (just by sitting there and being .com)
.net - you might be able to squeeze a buck or two
.info - those bring negative cash flow (I've made a few thousand $$$ with infos but that's because I know Google personally)

I don't see the problem with .net or .org. But I wouldn't enter my CC at a .ru site ;)

He's got a point. I've come across some sponsors with some nice sites, but wouldn't promote them because they use .net's. Silly I know, but it just doesn't look good.

I can't imagine how much money .net sites lose to their .com equivalent, but they can sure make good money if marketed correctly (emphasis on the .net part). That being said, the trust factor is irrevelant to the domain extension IMO. It has more to do with the site's name/feel and design. A good .net domain is a lot better than a bad .com domain...

Alot of non US visitors use .net more than .com

While a US visitor doing type ins will type .com, non USA statistically use .net more

.net for network
.org for organization
.edu for education
.gov for government

Problem is they never regulated it which would of been nice.
