Anyone trying to promote a .net piss off already

Seriously, no surfer in their right mind is going to click on that shit and give their credit card details.

It's called credibility. :Oh crap

After Shock Media 11-24-2007 02:56 AM

Please give your full thesis on why a .com is more credible than a .net specially when any crook with 8.88 could buy either.

Ladis 11-24-2007 02:57 AM

hmm, not sure :) my experience is different

aico 11-24-2007 02:58 AM

funny, my .net site makes quite a bit of money.

Would love to hear it to.

Those sales i get from my .nets must be hallucinations :upsidedow

MichaelP 11-24-2007 03:00 AM

well. ... And what about babes.tv for example ?

CunningStunt 11-24-2007 03:45 AM

Such a tough crowd...

Just see a lot of sigs trying to promote things like hornybigtitamateurs.net and the like, supposedly from a sponsor. No sponsor in their right mind will buy a .net unless it's really a goodie.

I have plenty of .tv's, .net's myself, but come on, not for a paysite or sponsor program.

Sorry wasnt very clear, a little too much red wine and beers for the day.

Go the greens, aussies will see a new leader in the morning.

.net which means that they make $3 a week if that, this is how it goes:
.com - lotsa $$$ (just by sitting there and being .com)
.net - you might be able to squeeze a buck or two
.info - those bring negative cash flow (I've made a few thousand $$$ with infos but that's because I know Google personally)

Emil 11-24-2007 05:33 AM

I don't see the problem with .net or .org. But I wouldn't enter my CC at a .ru site ;)

He's got a point. I've come across some sponsors with some nice sites, but wouldn't promote them because they use .net's. Silly I know, but it just doesn't look good.

Bourd 11-24-2007 06:12 AM

I can't imagine how much money .net sites lose to their .com equivalent, but they can sure make good money if marketed correctly (emphasis on the .net part). That being said, the trust factor is irrevelant to the domain extension IMO. It has more to do with the site's name/feel and design. A good .net domain is a lot better than a bad .com domain...

spacedog 11-24-2007 07:20 AM

Alot of non US visitors use .net more than .com

While a US visitor doing type ins will type .com, non USA statistically use .net more

who 11-24-2007 07:21 AM

honestly though, what the fuck were they thinking when they invented .net???

Um...

.com for company
.net for network
.org for organization
.edu for education
.gov for government

Problem is they never regulated it which would of been nice.

justFred 11-24-2007 07:33 AM

I thought .com isn't for company, it's for computer.

nvm just checked wikipedia. /smacks self in forehead

Yes but network... what constitutes a network, is what it boils down to.
