Is Eye Lasik proven to be safe?

Anyone has done eye lasik surgery? Has it been 99.99% scientifically proven safe?

There is always the slim chance something can happen and that scares me.

This type of surgery was developed in Russia because it was cheaper than providing glasses to the masses. Stand in line to get your eyes cut.

I'd love it but to scared.

I had it done in 2002. My vision is still 20/20. I think the technology has improved even more since then. Back when I had it, they have to slice your cornea to make a flap. Seeing that blade quickly across my eyeball wasn't exactly a nice experience. However, the mere fact that I don't have to fuck with contact lenses anymore makes the whole process worthwhile.

My suggestion: study your options, there's other eye surgery options out there. However, Lasik's been around for a while. I got mine done at LA Laser Eye Center in Encino.

I had it done back in the days before laser (mid 80's), they just used a diamond blade. One of the best things I ever did.

I had it done in 1998 and my sight is still very good. The risk is that you may need reading glasses as you get older. I highly reccomende it!!!

I don't think that is a risk as much as it is a given.

very safe, i now know dozens of people that have it done and they're all glad they got it done

I had it done maybe seven years ago.

I had a -8.0 prescription (very strong) and was able to throw out my glasses.

Recently I noticed my vision has not been so great. I've become a bit nearsighted again and have started wearing contacts, but it's still better than before because I can go without them and am not blind as a bat. Now I'm -1.25 in one eye and -2.0 in the other.

With both contacts in I need reading glasses. A lot of times I go around with just one in, then I have pretty good distance vision and can read too.

I would overall recommend it, I had seven years with no contacts or glasses and still have vastly improved vision.
