How do you copy an ICQ conversation?

How does one go about copying an icq conversation? I just want to see if I'm the ballistic bipolar fuck wad everyone thinks I am and should just deal with this typical sponsor response, or if there's an validity to my insane rants, raves and bitching festivals

I can select history but I can't right click and copy to paste

CurrentlySober 11-23-2007 03:22 PM

Ctrl A, Ctrl C then Ctrl V ?

D 11-23-2007 03:24 PM

I think the one time I needed to do this I found the history file in the ICQ History DB, copied directly from that, and just used a little find&replace to get rid of the garbage and strip it down to the actual convo.

I'm sure there's gotta be an easier way, though.

papill0n 11-23-2007 03:29 PM

you need to go to your history file mate

theres a button there that allows you to save selected messages as a text file

Okay let me try this and give me a sec cause i want to edit out the sponsor's name. I don't want to be on anyone else's bad side, but school me if i'm the one with the attitude, please.

No, it actually worked that way I was told and replied to, but by the way, I signed up for you guys under you cause I owed you and a couple other people were pushing you. Haven't checked it out yet though.

Here comes the convo

ronaldo 11-23-2007 03:43 PM

Hit history on the person you want to copy.

Click save as.

It will ask you where you want to save the text file.

Name file.

Click save.

Go to text file.

Copy.

Sorry one edit here. You have to read convo from bottom to top just to save you some time

Hopefully I edited this properly to protect freedom of information act (etc., etc.) and maybe I'm overreacting and not approaching people I make money for properly, but just want to know what anyone thinks.

Bye the way, this is today and it's been one half hour from my last response from this sponsor. They actually aren't bad sponsors and always pay on time and convert half decent even though I'm not pushing them all that much, but just curious if this is a cliff hanger or if it's just me

Me ‎(2:12 PM):
Still there?
Me ‎(2:00 PM):
today's 11/23, right or am I reading wrong?
Me ‎(1:59 PM):
Guess I don't understand that stuff
Me ‎(1:59 PM):
No, I meant for the future. Yeah, that's all cool, but one says 11/01 and that it wasn't sent yet. I guess I don't get that one. The other says 11/16 and that it wasn't sent yet?
Sponsor ‎(1:58 PM):
What do you mean? I just sent you the periods and payments
Me ‎(1:57 PM):
Yeah, I understand that. So just check the payment period and if I haven't gotten that specific check amount on a specific date, then bug you I guess, right? So I'm all set to start getting them in the mail right, cause I changed my options, but that isn't working with everyone I promote
Sponsor ‎(1:55 PM):
link? yea the stats
Me ‎(1:52 PM):
Oh, hey another thing. Is there a link for me to see that info the way you just showed it to me? That way I'd only have to bug you if something got lost in the mail and I'd know it did. Thanks
Me ‎(1:49 PM):
the open ones?
Me ‎(1:48 PM):
okay, let me ask different. do those ones not sent yet just get sent to my mail automatically
Me ‎(1:47 PM):
not getting something. what are those dates in front. the days they get sent or do i have to ask?
Sponsor ‎(1:46 PM):
ones that have not been sent
Me ‎(1:46 PM):
Wow, that was quick. what are open payments?
Sponsor ‎(1:45 PM):
Open Payments
Date Period Amount
<<Edited Payouts And Periods 2>>
Sponsor ‎(1:45 PM):
Sent Payments
Date Period Amount
<<Edited list of payout periods and payments>>
Me ‎(1:43 PM):
Hey, what's up. I was just curious about tracking payouts. I used to have things go to epass, but things have been screwing up so I changed to mail.
Sponsor ‎(1:43 PM):
Yes
Me ‎(8:29 AM):
Hey <Sponsor> are you around?
Me ‎(11/22/2007 5:36 AM):
smutnut is my affiliate ID by the way
Me ‎(11/22/2007 5:36 AM):
Hey, <Sponsor>. I'm trying to contact sponsors I have because I switched from epass. Last payment I received to them was on 11/11 I think. Is there a way for me to track dates you guys send out checks in mail?

Actually, that seems to save the entire history with that particular person, not just selected messages.

Cool, I'll try that next time. I might write a book or blog with these for newbie webmasters to save them some time

Okay, so this is a normal conversation. To me it's a cliff hanger, but I'm suppose to take for granted now these payments are coming in the mail I guess, right?

This is actually one of the better ones compared to the ones that get me agitated. Those pretty much cliff hang the second I say "I have a problem" or something to that extent

It's a holiday weekend - all that turkey will cause people to fall asleep all through Friday and the weekend. So maybe he will mail it out for the period ending Nov 1st on Monday?

Yeah, I guess you're right, but they have this attitude a lot, and like i said they are good sponsors and never didn't pay me, but still I should be saying what the fuck with the cliff hanger and all right..?

I'm just curious

Because this is the way I normally talk before things get worse and I start going ballistic here like a fucking maniac

justFred 11-23-2007 04:27 PM

in my experience, the sponsors (all of them) often disappear for 1-2 hours at a time, and I continue working while I wait for their response.

I understand that they're busy, and I won't be worth their undivided attention until I start hitting top sales.

your choice if you want to freak out, but I wouldn't. I can always leave them hanging or go write a script or crop some thumbnails while I wait.

Its like this: my mom is fighting the phone company and keeps hanging up on them when she gets pissed.... but if she stayed on the line and just bugged the rep, they would eventually get sick and transfer her up and up...

shekinah 11-23-2007 04:35 PM

Just go to history then highlight the conversation, use shift and then click the upward arrow at the same time. After you've highlighted the conversation, go to the select selected files Icon, then save it, then open your ICQ lite folder and there it is:thumbsup

:1orglaugh I love this and you're right, and I know they'll pay from experience, but it still jerks me off.

Some sponsors go out of their way to help you, hahaha for instance. You'd never get that type of rude treatment from them, no matter how little you are. Serious. Sometimes I find myself trying to put in extra effort for them even if I'm not sure I can convert their stuff just because of their attitude. I'm just saying...

But you're right. I would stay on the phone so thus ICQ covers these cocksuckers instead of helping us

Violetta 11-23-2007 04:39 PM

those smileys fucks up the ctrl c... :(

What about the frowns? :1orglaugh

smutnut 11-23-2007 05:35 PM

So i guess the general consensus is, don't put too much effort into these guys, but take it as it comes...

I really need to find a sponsor who gives a shit

smutnut 11-23-2007 06:28 PM

Hey, so now when I come back here talking like a crazy fucking bastard am I justified or am I losing it?

Just curious
