The real "Why is StuartD such a loser" thread. It's been a long year.
 

My wife has been in the hospital for the passed week and will remain there for another 3 until our baby is born.
About 4 months into the pregnancy, she began to suffer from Pelvic Symphysis (her pelvis is being ripped apart) and has been unable to walk... placing her on full bed rest.

So for 5 months now, I have been doing all the cooking, cleaning, laundry, taking care of our 2 year old and also taking care of her. On top of that, with the added bills of travel to and from doctors/hospitals and extra day care and all else that just seems to add up too fast, I've been working for ATKCash as well as doing as much as 3 other projects all at the same time to make sure that all goes smoothly around here.

Working on 3-5 hours of sleep each night was pretty new to me but I always made certain that the work all got done and I still had time to spend with my boy to play, and to comfort my wife as she cried at night from the pain.

Cameron had his hernia surgery in August, my wife was there in her wheel chair, which is why she was unable to go with him into the operating room. Had she of been in able condition, I doubt very much she'd have left his side for even a second.

Prior to that, I had my own bed rest as I had surgery on my tail bone in January, and rather than take 3 months to recover as instructed, I was working again mid February to appease a company that had no short term disability options. I was forced to agree to receive my usual pay checks and "make up" the hours later. So when I returned to the computer 1.5 months early, I had to work 14 hour days to make up for the pay I received while in bed. Anyone wanting to question this, I can put you in touch with the accountant there that handled the tracking of my hours.

This is a thread for those who need to make up anything they can to hate me.... Will76, Warchild, Hateman, SoS (when you're around).... I am father, mother, and everything else in this house right now. I have no help as family are all 6+ hours away. I never neglect my family and I never neglect my work. It gets done despite what anyone will tell you. I challenge any of you or anyone else to live with this responsibility. No, it's not the end of the world and many people have it way worse. But it's not easy either.
Oh and hateman, I look forward to playing more video games, when I have time. It's been far too long.

This is also to friends that I've made here over the years... an update on why I might not have always been around or talkative or... well, just not myself this year. I currently travel 40+ mins to the hospital and back every few days to be with my wife who is in such pain that I can't even let her sit with her son.

The light at the end of the tunnel is approaching though... we have a scheduled c-section set for Dec 13th and are eagerly anticipating the new and last addition to our family. Until then, my wife suffers greatly, and I am lacking any sort of rest or sanity. But in the end we'll be stronger and more complete as a family.

Yes, I'm a loser.... I've never denied that. But despite that, I will never let my family down.

Wow man I would say you are anything but a loser.

Props to you for putting your family first and busting your arse to look after them.

Well Stuart, everything else aside, I hope everything is fine with your wife, your second child and your own health. I tend to be a little fire tempered at time, and although I stand by what I've said over the years, I really wouldn't wish any harm on you or especially your family.

Hey baby I am so sorry to hear you are going through all of this. I wish you and your family the best. I like that you see the light at the end of the tunnel. When the baby is born and get past that newborn phase, I am sure you and your wife will get things on track and calmed down.

You shouldn't feel the need to justify yourself to the arseholes around here.

That said, kudos to you for being a man and taking care of your family when times got tough. Lesser men might have walked away. I bet your wife and kid appreciate it all. Good luck for when the new baby arrives, I really mean that!

Yeah, I know... and I've gone this long with haters on my tail without saying anything, but I think that it's good for my friends here to know as well, since I might not have been on icq/msn or as personable as usual.

And my boy is still a tad young to really get it all, but my wife always makes certain to let me know at least once a day how "lucky she is to have me". And I always appreciate hearing it.

But it's me that is lucky to have her, and my family. There's a reason that I'll do anything for them.

Things have been pretty bad for me this year as well....
