HUSHMAIL admits to backdoor!

The supposedly secure encrypted email service hushmail.com has admitted that "the company can and will eavesdrop on its users when presented with a court order, even if the targets uses the company's vaunted Java applet that does all the encryption and decryption in a browser."

The land of the free, huh :error:error

Worse thing about it is the Canadian government makes it so the Canadian company is forced to give up their info to the U.S. government.

Well it's not like they were investing men for cheating on their wifes. It was part of a steroid raid by the DEA in the United States. The persons were using Hushmail to break US laws (probably deliver steroids into the US to US customers)

a court order?
you are going to tell a judge to go fuck himself?
good move.
you will make many friends in prison.

pornguy 11-23-2007 07:47 AM

What did you expect.

As soon as someone with a computer tells you it's unbreakable. remember this saying. " Where there is a will, there is a way! "

Theres no real such thing as privacy if you use other peoples services for "privacy" purposes.

headless ghost 11-23-2007 07:49 AM

use windows vista.
that dork on tv says it is safe and secure.

:2 cents: :thumbsup but its forbidden to use in some countries, am i right?

d-null 11-23-2007 08:08 AM

this was a wide ranging information gathering breach of privacy

it wasn't a case of one person that was already charged... they went and got a bunch of email accounts from many people.... obviously one could theorize that the privacy of many innocent people were breached....

where does it stop?

apparently iphones have a built in backdoor to unknowingly track it's users ( government spying on iphones )

as technology marches on, these kinds of privacy issues should be front and center, as governments can't be trusted to preserve the rights of individuals

They could do it much more easy... Just ask Silvester Stallone who is his steroids dealer and they are done.

No, it's forbidden to export.

Emil 11-24-2007 01:03 AM

lol, you really think they wouldn't do that?

I've always found it funny that warez-groups and drug-people think they are so safe when they're using a stealth-elite-haXXor-fuck-the-goverment-mail like hushmail.
