New Chocolate Lab puppy

Just got him a week ago. Named him Bodie.

Man is this dog is smart for 8 weeks old. I've taught him to "come" and "sit", and leash trained within the first few days. Almost got the housebreaking done...give it another week.

he can be an obnoxious little guy though...

Bodie is a crappy name, i suggest changing it to "Checkers"

dog is cute as hell, he needs a better name!

ShellyCrash 11-19-2007 02:04 PM

Choc. Labs are so fucking cute as puppies. My Chocolate bitch is 2 years old and LIVES to hunt.

He has a beautiful head.

Great looking pup

farkedup 11-19-2007 02:57 PM

house breaking is always a bitch... just when you think you've got it done you feel something squish between your toes while walking in the dark

GAMEFINEST 11-19-2007 03:01 PM

That is a cute pup..

I think that's funny because I LOVED Point Break! Not sure I'd love it so much if I were to watch it again now.

He's a super cute puppy! Wait til he's nine months old and still being a pain in the ass.

KILL_FRENZY 11-19-2007 03:22 PM

cute puppy :)

Sosa 11-19-2007 03:34 PM

Awesome dog :) Remind me of our Chocolate Lab about a year and half ago. They grow up fast, and really like to eat! One thing I wish we would have done with ours was get him on a leash quicker, he really likes to pull during walks, and piss on every little thing lol

madfuck 11-19-2007 03:35 PM

This guy's parents are both 50 pounders(mid size) which is perfect for me. I live in a townhouse. Hopefully there's no regressive gene that makes him 90 pounds.

Skillz Unlimited 11-19-2007 04:48 PM

now that's a cutie.

I had my Golden Lab sitting, staying, lying down, house trained and leash trained in the first two weeks I had him. No joke.

No matter what anyone says, they are incredibly smart dogs. Just a note of caution, keep it all up with him, they may be too smart for you sometimes. They'll try it on a bit, so be sure to keep it all up with him and he'll be a brilliant dog.

Another thing, for the first 3 months of walking him, don't let him sniff the ground when walking. Try to keep his head raised and it'll be plain sailing for the rest of his life :)

Enjoy the dog, the last 3 and a half years with my dog have brought me so many laughs. I love him so much!!

aaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwww :glugglug

candyflip 11-19-2007 05:05 PM

Puppies rule. I have a cousin who is developmentally disabled and with state grants was able to start a business breeding Chocolate Labs. Gorgeous dogs, but the 6 they have at the kennel are a bit too much for me.

everestcash 11-22-2007 03:10 AM

awwwww i loved him in that last picture...

bobby666 11-22-2007 03:26 AM

my golden retriever learned all that in ONE day - at 9 weeks old - same day she learned how to go up and down stairs. the toilet training took 2 days. smartest dog ever. the dog i had before her was a dummy - i just started talking to this 9 week year old dog and it was as if she had full command of the English language and understood every direction.

awesom chocolate lab - i am jealous! a long happy life for him :thumbsup

It is never too late to teach your dog not to pull. I started using a EasyWalk Harness on my dog when he was seven. You can opt for a Gentle Leader too.

campimp 11-22-2007 06:40 AM

labs are the best! i had a black lab lived 11 years, just passed away a couple years ago....

smart dogs, but damn she loved to chew on things for her first couple years

The breeder allowed you to take him home after just seven weeks?
