I'll be in LA next week with a bunch of friends, i need your opinions on the best/fun/good food restaurnats in LA. what is LA known for?

i usually don't care what i eat when i come out there, a little fatburger and i'm fine, but this crowd wants the experience.

I Agree With Spagos

Biggy 11-19-2007 11:02 AM

Steakhouses - CUT and Mastro's, both in Beverly Hills. Cut is wolfgang puck's place, took the brazzers crew there last week and Wolfgang personally came out and shook our hands - he does this frequently. Mastro's is very solid also.

Sushi - Katsuya - there's a few of them, you cant go wrong. - Studio City, LA on 3rd, etc.

Italian - Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica.

Monique Niccole 11-19-2007 11:43 AM

I second the vote for Katsu-Ya. I went to the Studio City location twice the last time I was there. Some of the best sushi I've eaten. Try the crispy rice with tuna if you go!

Porno Dan 11-19-2007 02:18 PM

Tommy Burger and Roscoe's

GITZINGER 11-19-2007 02:52 PM

for Italian:

Ago
Madeo

D 11-19-2007 03:02 PM

Spago and Katsuya for sure. Cafe Bizou for French. Ago for Italian rocks, too. Good dinner spots.

For Lunch...

If you're looking for the "L.A. experience" you have to stop by Phillipe's (introduced the French Dip to the U.S.) and Pink's (world-famous hot dog stand). No foodie worth their street cred hasn't been to either

Maybe Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles, to boot... and The Stand for hot dogs in Encino.... Dr. Hogly Woggly's for BBQ.

MrIzzz 11-19-2007 03:09 PM

good stuff, thanks everyone

baddog 11-19-2007 03:13 PM

Really depends on where in LA you are going to be. This place is sprawling.

Trust the diehard locals.

Though I do agree on Pinks for hotdogs. Then while there two hotdogs must be had. Pinks Bacon-Chili-Cheese-Dog and Pink's Polish pastrami rueben dog. The following are runners up. Pink's Bacon Burrito Dog, Pink's Millennium Dog, Pink's Guadalajara Dog, Pink's Guacamole Dog.

Ok I am a hotdog lover.

Pink's Chili Cheese Dog.

If you go, plan to spend an hour standing in line on the standard day.

Phillipe's next to Chinatown for the next day. They still serve 9 cent cups of coffee. I get one every time I go. Be sure to leave the lady at the cashier (they prep your food right there in front of you) a small tip.

Not just dogs... chili dogs. A Los Angeles specialty.

L.A. culture is world renown for its special brand of meat chili paste that it serves on hot dogs.... Pink's, Cupids... what have you. ... just as Philly is for its cheese steaks (though maybe not _as renown_ as that).

I'm surprised you didn't know that.

Dodger Dogs or no dogs pretty much here. I sure would not drive to LA or the Valley just to eat a "chili dog."

baddog 11-20-2007 06:17 PM

Oh, and I only recently tried the combo of waffles and chicken. I don't get it.

Both of them sounded good and it was dinner time when I wrote that.
