Can someone recommend a sponsor that understands what OPT-IN is?

I'm running a tiny opt-in list of less than 100 people. So I sent a mailing out on friday, but a bonehead who volunteered to be on my list complained to my sponsor! Thanks to my sponsors stupid zero-tolarance policy, i've just lost my sponsor, and they won't respond to my emails!

Is there someway to protect myself from boneheads? Is their a sponsor out there that understands that sometimes people on opt-in lists complain about spam?

In case your wondering the opt-in mailing list program I'm using is Ciao mailing list manager.

its still good to let your sponser know when your running a mailer,,

especially per sign up sponsers, they can be pretty anal bout things

I know some friendly sponsers, drop a line on icq or by email.

Dude, what the hell are you thinking sending out emails without notifying your sponsor? Double opt in or not.

Seriously... what were you thinking?

ace0r 09-22-2002 10:43 AM

was it a double opt in list?

SykkBoy 09-22-2002 10:46 AM

We'll take your double opt-ins, hit me up [email protected]

Anyone else with good double opt-in lists, let me know, I'll raise your payouts.

yes, you stay away from cheap scripts..
pick up or pay someone to develop one so that its double opt in, logs the IP addy, and logs the date/time when the person confirmed to be on the list. Idiots will always complain but if a sponsor confronts you about spamming, you have the proof of when the person joined your list.

...and 'cause it needs saying a 3rd time - always, always let the sponsor know first.

Do you know an existing script that logs times/ip addresses?

couple years ago i thought about doing an opt in list for a few reasons, but i decided it wasn't worth the risk. mainly because if someone complains you can get fucked, even if they signed up to be on the list.

and to get a complaint when your list was only 100 optins strong? thats a bit fucked up. i think you need to go back to spammer school lil one..

This is the most creative way of asking for a sponser that allows SPAM :warning

FreeXXX 09-22-2002 02:44 PM

ZaHa:

The list in reality of sponsors that will allow spam is much greater than those that are opposed to it. You just gotta know who to ask at each sponsor...

Gemini 09-22-2002 02:58 PM

Hmmm... MOST spams say you opted in and you never even heard of them. Maybe tradegy is one I spanked on Friday for lying. :1orglaugh
