Only the good die young?
Control - Ian Curtis - Joy Division
I'm just back from watching this award winning film. It's about the short life of Ian Curtis, lead singer of the legendary Manchester band, Joy Division (who went on to become New Order). He took his own life at the age of 23 just as the band were about to head off on their first tour of the US. We all know stories like these, famous people who take their own lives while the rest of us think they have the world at their feet. Some of the world's most creative people are literally living on the edge. All we see is the glory whereas all they feel is the pain. It is true that in many cases, we may not have paid much attention to these people had it not been for their untimely demise, but their departure was the trigger for us to look deeper at what they had achieved. It also makes us wonder - could they have been saved? So my question to you all is - Who in this category affected you the most - and why? |
Pathfinder. He was an american hero.
