Thanksgiving Dinner..Do you tell the relatives ya peddle smut for a living?
 

Just wondering if you gfy'rs tell the family and relatives/ in-laws "what line of work your in" when they ask?


Usually i just say "im work with computers ...online advertising"..most just say "i hear theres alot of money in that"...some say "dont tell me you do that porn stuff" ...wich i always reply..."Theres porn on the interent?":1orglaugh

I've employeed my parents back in the 90's before they retired, my grandmother knows what I do, and like Jaysin said, if you can't tell family, you're in the wrong fucking business.

I let those openminded enough (most of the family) know, others just.. "internet marketing" :)

My family knows, the in laws don't though. But I have enough other projects going on that they don't need to know :)

Most of my family members (well, the few I have left) know I work on porn. In grandma's case, I try to speak in as much technical mumbo jumbo as possible (I dabble in advertising involving peer-to-user software related euphoria) and she just says "I don't understand all that stuff." Then when I'm not around, she was the first to ask "Is he doing porn?" and they are all nice enough to shrug. Of course, my 92 yr old cracker grandma thinks that all the internet is porn.

This isn't my full time job so i'm fully covered... I just say I dabble in online marketing...

Most of my close family knows, the rest just think I do "computer stuff", to which they reply "Oooh! computers! There's a future in that."

Work is not usually the topic of conversation but if it does come up I just say "internet marketing, search engine optimization, advertising management" and confuse them with lingo.

for some reason I think this same thread emerges every year around Thanksgiving Day :P

by the way, my family on my mom's side know that I work on porn. On my dad's side they think I just design mainstream websites. And my husband's relatives certainly know what we do

those who need to know, do and those who don't don't...and those who do know know they can just keep their mouths shut ;-)

mostly, if they are prudish then i tell them i work at a tobacco company putting the stuff in smokes that gives you cancer.

I've tried to explain to mine quite a few times what I do exactly only for them to say oh so you are a telephone sex operator. So I don't bother anymore.

My family knows exactly what we do. My wife's family, a very religious bunch, does not. . .yet. They undoubtedly will find out at some point and we will have another morality debate which will end poorly for them.

My son is 15 and knows what we do (hardcore amateur shoots for sites to be launched in a few months). He is never at the shoots of course, but loves to see the hotties come and go when he crosses paths with them. He has college plans, but I suspect he will end up working with us after college. He is a bright, articulate young man and is also VERY attractive.

He should make a good recruiter. Once he's 18 he's going to work for us in that capacity.

my entire family knows what i do in adult as well as my mainstream projects. its just a biz and if they don't like then don't sit at my table. Most of them either don't talk about it or have tons of questions . My wifes uncles are about 60-65 years old and they flipped out when they heard I've been to the PB Mansion ... I found that funny because i didn't really care and wasn't even going to go the first year but I guess they grew up with the launch of PB and all the press about it. after talking with them for a bit I realized that it is kinda cool to be at a place with the history it has and the limited access to it.

My dad doesn't give a shit, but I don't talk about it with my mom. I'm sure she knows, so she doesn't bring it up and I don't either. She's born again, aka super judgemental, so it's more of an ignorance is bliss thing with her I guess.

I'll tell them what I do more in detail once I start making more money. Otherwise, I just tell them online marketing.
