Motivation?

What do you do to keep motivated after you have reached your idea of a comfortable income? I dont care if that means 3k/month or 5k/month or 10k/month but what do you do after you reach that level to motivate you to step to the next?

To me, its always been real easy to be motivated when sales have been bad and Ive felt worried that things wont work out. Its much harder to stay motivated when things are going good in my opinion. You get that content feeling and dont feel the need to put in any extra hours. Sure, I got a decent place to live and can afford trips blah blah.. but I still want to step it up.

I think this is the one thing where a lack of a boss is actually a negative thing. There is nobody but me that will make sure that I do what I need to do. So, what do you do to keep being motivated?

I set financial goals for myself that go beyond what I make weekly / monthly, like my goal for this year is to get my house paid off, etc.

Buy a car or a house thats beyond your means, then you'll have to get you ass back to work to pay for it! j/k

Every monring when I get up at 6 am and will be in the office 15 min later, I peek into my sons room at him sleeping. And every afternoon at 6pm when I leave the office I go to play with him till his bedtime. He is my motivation.

What about on a smaller level? Im a morning person so I like to get up early and start working. I'll feel real motivated but then around 2-3pm something happends and my motivation drops off into nothingness.

All of a sudden the xbox360 is calling for me around that time. :helpme

a lot of people find that keeping a log of all the tasks you complete in a day can be a very motivating practice - just write as you go.

you're always trying to 'outdo' the previous day, and you can track the progress you're making. It can also be a good gauge of when to take a day or just a few hours off. You'll feel like you earned it and Halo 3 will be better than ever.

This is a good idea. I can finally make use of that weekly planner my gf gave me.

good god I can't wait until my biggest problem is that my comfortable income is keeping me from working harder than I need to. :1orglaugh

ok JK. honestly I put a to-do list on my desktop background and cross things off it in paint when I finish them, my screen saver says "are you working?", and when I play counterstrike I only enable it in peer-guardian for one hour. When the IP gets blocked again... it's time to go back to work.

motivation is not merely the reasons that you need for you to step forward. coz there are some people who always does good but at the end of the day what did they do is not just enough to make them feel better. well for me, i just think the future of my family, then i take everything for it.
