BOSS1 11-14-2007 11:46 AM

sorry maybe i rushed the gun on that one.... it is happening to the canadian dollar though :)

pornask 11-14-2007 11:52 AM

Occasional fluctuation will occur, but there won't be any "quick" climbing anytime soon. I doubt there will be any climbing of the US dollar at all... other than those occasional fluctuations

WarChild 11-14-2007 11:54 AM

More than 95 cents hen selling US Dollars now. WOOOOO!

Klen 11-14-2007 12:07 PM

Nop versus Kuna still falling.

cool1 11-14-2007 12:52 PM

yep canadian $ has gone down a bit over the last couple of days.
I hope it falls all the way back to $0.70

MetaMan 11-14-2007 12:53 PM

i dont know how much trust there is to this but i have heard alberta there is a 15 year slowdown when it comes to drilling.

this is supposed to have a direct relation to the falling american dollar.

so this must obviously affect canadians because americans our such big importers.

i am no economist but his is what i have heard.

Diligent 11-14-2007 01:06 PM

I read today that the latest U.S. consumption report was better than expected, maybe that plays a role here (if it IS climbing, to lazy ATM to check it out).

Oh, how much better..? 0.2% instead of the 0.1% that was expected...
Lol.. gotta love the market psychology.

There is no question the rise in the Cdn dollar has affected the amount of drilling done this year. Also going to crush the Alberta economy is the royalties put into place starting 2009. As a result you have Sask being very aggressive to get the rigs relocated to their province with no royalties in place. Things in Alberta could get very ugly very soon.

Maybe with any luck it forces the bank of canada to reduce rates and force our dollar lower.

Axeman 11-14-2007 01:18 PM

good article about the negative problems the CDN economy is facing with the rise of our dollar.

Drilling in Saskatchewan is not expected to boom for at least another couple years. alberta will be alright for a while. they are seriously some dumb motherfuckers trying to pass these royalties on the industry that floats our province though. i've heard reports that devon has already decreased their production by 35% and encana is threatening to pull all their new developement in alberta altogether. seriously, who had this brilliant fucking idea???

Saskatchewan of all fucking provinces is projected to be 2008's leader in economic development....

flashfire 11-15-2007 01:10 AM

well the canadian dollar was as high as 1.10 last week so it being at 1.03 is a fairly large drop

lol... yeah right

Garvin 11-15-2007 03:39 AM

I know a guy that does lots of stocks trading and makes lots of cash regularly, he says in near future USD's gonna jump vs EUR to 1:1.3 or better, then it'll quickly fall back and keep falling to even 1:2

"Dead cat bounce", as he named it, happened several times before. It's created and used by white collar thieves to preserve their wealth.

Sounds like a bullshit to me (no one can do it with large amount fast without distracting the rate), whatcha think? Too late for me anyway, converted everything month or so ago at 1:1.43 (bank's fee included)

Violetta 11-15-2007 03:44 AM

still low as fuck

I think he may have been referring to today vs. CDN - a bit of a different story:
http://finance.yahoo.com/charts#char...urce=undefined

(Caveat: It was rising at the time of posting this link - for the smartasses out there who will quote me tomorrow...)

I follow USD:CDN frequently as I move enough to make it worthwhile ... and from what I've seen, expert advice on what's going to happen is VERY shortlived in currencies - i.e. changes daily)

RegUser 11-15-2007 07:52 AM

The CDN is going for a nosedive today. 1.02 cents and pay drop a bit more
excellent time to convert from US
I am dumping a whole lot today

Might start dropping tomorrow
and keep in mind only CAD has fallen today....the US has NOT risen against other currencies

SomeCreep 11-15-2007 12:54 PM

The U.S. dollar currently has the biggest short position amongst investors, ever. It's only a matter of time before the U.S. dollar becomes too cheap and rebounds from the mother of all short squeezes.

BOSS1 11-15-2007 01:07 PM

0.98492 ....... on xe.com whooooooooo

He is right, the USD is shorted by not only investors but governments but the time will come when one of them blinks needing to cover thier shorts by buying and then all the other shorts will get the giant squeeze...

wyldblyss 11-15-2007 01:27 PM

I try to think about the dollar as little as possible lately, ruins my mood http://www.iconwild.com/smilies/sad/sad-smiley-005.gif
