Whats the first movie you remember seeing at the movies...

...mine was e.t., then my older brothers went all sci-fi so star treks followed ( didn't get much choice here in 80's, we had a recession and hand-me-downs went for everything :1orglaugh)

SexualDragon 11-14-2007 06:15 AM

I beleive it was the first star trek movie

wyldworx 11-14-2007 06:16 AM

i had the hots hard for drew barrymore, and just so happens i ended up with a look-alike.

bronco67 11-14-2007 09:43 AM

Midway, in SENSURRRRRROUND!!!!!!!! back in 1976.

And it's actually on UHD right now as I type this. That's some syncronicity for yo ass.

LiveDose 11-14-2007 09:44 AM

Herbie or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, I'm not positive which one.

baddog 11-14-2007 09:45 AM

Ben Hur. I think my dad just wanted to get us kids out of the house so he could make us another brother.

candyflip 11-14-2007 09:46 AM

Superman. My little sister had just been born. I was 2.

I have a few other vivid memories from around this same time, which I think is pretty cool.

These are a good call.

The first real movie I remember was the first Star Wars. It was incredible.

Mmmmmmmmm. Nice catch.

gornyhuy 11-14-2007 09:52 AM

I think mine was The Rescuers (1977) followed closely by Superman and Star Wars. But I probably saw some kiddy cartoons before that that I don't remember.

bronco67 11-14-2007 09:54 AM

Wow, we're all about the same age....these flicks are mostly hittin around mid to late 70's.

martinsc 11-14-2007 09:55 AM

i don't remember the name, but it was something with Sean Connery and the some nature stuff (rain forests i think)

SCORE Ralph 11-14-2007 09:57 AM

earliest movie I remember was Back to the Future or Gremlins

ShellyCrash 11-14-2007 09:58 AM

I'll never forget it, Star Wars in NYC when we first came to the states. What a way to pop my cherry. I think I saw it 6 times in 2 weeks at the theaters alone :thumbsup

ADL Colin 11-14-2007 10:03 AM

Jaws.

After that Close Encounters and Star Wars.

CDSmith 11-14-2007 10:04 AM

First time to the theatre... I have no idea what it might have been. I was probably 5 yrs old, my older sister used to take me on the bus sometimes to the Saturday matinee. 50c to get in. :D

One of the first movies I do recall seeing with the family was The Sound of Music. That was back in the day when a theatre could take a 3 or 4 yr old movie and run it as a feature for 20 or 30 weeks straight.

JohnnyJames 11-14-2007 10:04 AM

Phantasm.

I was probably 4 years old. Crappy decision by my parents. I had nightmares for months, and ended up in porn.

CurrentlySober 11-14-2007 10:07 AM

Dunno, but my sons first movie was the Lion King...
I took him :)

Zebra 11-14-2007 10:11 AM

I think it was The Apple Dumpling Gang in '75 when I was 4. I can remember seeing The Rescuers and Star Wars in '77.

ronaldo 11-14-2007 10:13 AM

Star Wars at the Kings theatre on Portage Avenue in Winnipeg. Remember that CDSmith?

WebairGerard 11-14-2007 10:17 AM

King Kong with Jeff Bridges (Twin Towers one) and then original Star Wars.

justinsain 11-14-2007 10:17 AM

Sound of Music with my Mom and my sisters. I was more interested in the popcorn, candy and soda as any five year old would be.

SweetT 11-14-2007 10:32 AM

The original Jaws. I must have been about 5. My Mom swears that she made a stupid young decision taking me and my little brother to see it. She likes to tell the story that my brother saw the guy get bitten in half on the boat and he said "forget this" and he curled up in the bottom of his seat and went to sleep.

I, on the other hand, watched the whole damn thing and had nightmares the rest of my childhood. Maybe that is what is wrong with me ;)

The Neverending Story.

I hardly remember seeing the movie for the first time but I do remember leaving the theater & it was raining.

cool1 11-14-2007 10:35 AM

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang back in 1968
I was 9, and my mom took me.

Bdiddy 11-14-2007 10:35 AM

Damn that's a tough one...Don't remember but I think it was probably "Transformers the Movie" (cartoon '86 or '87). The one where they kill Optimus Prime and like ten other characters in as many minutes and all of the kids were balling their eyes out.

My mother was pregnant with me, when she saw "Return of the Jedi" in the theaters so maybe that should count

haha! Awww... poor guy!

They had a Jaws Marathon on one of the cable channels here a while ago & my son insisted on watching the movie ... but it didn't take long before he was terrified & changed the channel.

Nothing really scares this kid which is the only reason I allowed him to leave it on. (he's 7)
Jaws is just freaky stuff man!

HDV-Adult 11-14-2007 12:36 PM
