As an American, Do YOU have the balls?

to say enough is enough with our broken govt? I am not a conspiracy nut, but I think the next few years are going to very bad for US citizens. I have no illusions that US citizens can replace congress or the other two branches of govt, but I do feel that the US needs a major shakeup to get rid of corruption and special interest groups within the US govt. that are creating the US and foriegn policy via our congress and president.

I fear that someday my children will be asking me why we (US) didn't do something when we had the chance...

IMHO, the US has been the greatest nation of all human times, but without a dramatic change, we (US) will become another fallen empire that will be read about the same way as the past Romans and Greeks, etc...

Whats funny about your post FLY is that it's not even about Bush. IMHO it's the whole govt that's broken. Bush is just a cog in the wheel.

Most people dont know that as US citizens, we have the constitutional right to otherthrow the govt if we dont believe that they are pursuing the will of the people..

My point of this thread was to see how many others are fed up with the US govt and would be willing to act on the words that so many spew here on GFY...

Bods4Mods 11-10-2007 11:53 PM

I totally feel that way - especially since I am going back to Iraq in a couple weeks.

2012 11-10-2007 11:56 PM

you're right. things are broken ... for some. For the people that "matter".... things are just fine.

marketsmart 11-11-2007 12:03 AM

"I totally feel that way - especially since I am going back to Iraq in a couple weeks."

I wish you the best of luck. I hope you make it back OK. Are you going as military or as a contractor? If contractor, I have a friend there that might be able to guide you....

He said he's going "back". He might know his way around...

Bods4Mods 11-11-2007 12:13 AM

Military. I Will do my mission as it is set out. I will also have the lingering thoughts about why we are actually doing this. Who it helps and who it hurts. Not a fun way of going down range ;)

DaddyHalbucks 11-11-2007 12:16 AM

I agree that our government is broken.

However, I think our foreign policy is fine under GWB. I am afraid we will not have the balls to finish the job in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran and stick with it for another decade.

I am very worried about: Iran becoming a nuclear power because nobody has the balls to stop it, widespread welfare fraud, unions corrupting our state and federal governments, immigration policy which is way beyond broken, illegal aliens draining our financial resources via taking social services to which they are not entitled, the threat of socialized medicine, the threat of socialism in general, our trade deficit with China, espionage by China and Russia which is at Cold War levels, China's rise as a military power funded by US dollars and build on US technology, a terrorist group with a nuke, etc.. --that's what really worries me.

marketsmart 11-11-2007 12:16 AM

"He said he's going "back". He might know his way around..."

With your reasoning, I guess he knows where all the IED's are? Do you think he will be issued a new "IED Location" map when he gets there?

I would rather stick an M80 up may ass then be sent to Iraq. Not because I am a pussy and afraid to fight, but because Iraq is not a fair fight and because the "mission of Iraq" has been fucked since the start...

For fucks sakes, even our diplomats say going to Iraq is a death sentence..

Chio 11-11-2007 12:17 AM

Good luck to you Bods.

DaddyHalbucks 11-11-2007 12:21 AM

The alternative is to go back to Bill Clinton's policy of No Foreign Policy, which directly set us up for 9/ 11. What's the cost? Al Qaeda has already promised that their next attack will make 9/11 look like a picnic.

marketsmart 11-11-2007 12:21 AM

Daddy: One of the most coherent and inteligent responses I have seen here. We (US) have more issues locally then we do overseas with the exception of China. Corporate America is building a military (China) that IMHO is going to bite us in the ass in the next 10 years..

My point all along has been, let's fix domestic issues first before we (US) try to worry about International issues...

Everyone keeps buying into the FEAR campaigns ...
"Bill Clinton set us up for 9/11" ... LOL

I give up ...

Megafoo 11-11-2007 12:30 AM

Every country has its issues, right now it seems the U.S. is in the spotlight. but this is nothing new especially with all the governments around the world.

France? lets not even go there, corruption seems to be an acceptable practice there as well.

Gernamy? Lets not get into their history

Italy? lets not go there either

England? Gee there is a colorful past to talk about but im not in the mood for it.

Russia: Hrm...

China: oh yeah, theres a role model

marketsmart 11-11-2007 12:34 AM

""Everyone keeps buying into the FEAR campaigns ...

C'mon Fly, you are smarter than that.. You have to look between the lines.. It's all there... FEAR keeps people docile, questioning keeps people strong...

The media keeps us thinking everything is OK. Intelligence keeps us from believing other peoples opinions. I am not saying what is right or wrong, all I am saying is have the balls and intelligence to formulate your own opinion and question everthing..

Don't believe what you are told. Have the balls and intelligence to question everythig you are told. It;s what made our nation GREAT...

2012 11-11-2007 12:40 AM

All of a sudden we are supposed to believe that IRAN is this all powerful potential death sentence for the free world ( I remember getting this about Iraq not too long ago) ... I guess the "Suspension of Disbelief" isn't something that just works in the movies.

Iran couldn't take Saddam for 8 years ? How long did it take for us to own that fucker. Does everyone lose their common sense when we get the fear alerts everyday on CNN ...

seeric 11-11-2007 12:54 AM

i have enough balls. our country is in a tailspin.

its terrible.

marketsmart 11-11-2007 01:18 AM

"Iran couldn't take Saddam for 8 years ? How long did it take for us to own that fucker. Does everyone lose their common sense when we get the fear alerts everyday on CNN ..."

I couldnt agree more, but like I was saying when I started this thread, do we have the balls to do it?

If we can make up a reason to invade Iraq, why can't we just get Iran over with? I support an invasion of Iran if it means that controlling oil will make the US a stronger country and help secure our power.

Even though China and Russia are growing on a daily basis, I truly belive the US has the most advanced weapontry in the world. Lets strike while we still have that edge....

Thurbs 11-11-2007 01:41 AM

problem is people don't like change, they don't like uncertainity.

the govt has been doing this to the people since Post Depression ages, they create services to make us happy, and the we become reliant on them, when we have problems, they make more things to make us happy, and therefore more reliant.

people don't want to think about if we got rid of current setup, would we all lose SSN, medical and all this other shit.

and then b/c ppl are now so reliant, and selfish, they'll settle for the easiest road possible until it becomes deplorable, but by then MacDonalds & Friends will have made everyone so fat, the rebellion will be quelched by free burgers and fries.

and I'm a proud American, its really the populations fault this shit has gotten so bad. greatest thing about living in the Philippines, I left my credit cards and u cant get them here, now I live on what I make. I want something nice, I save for it or spend less in other areas.

We just need to open our eyes and get off the govt teet.

DamageX 11-11-2007 02:05 AM

Lots of Americans have the balls. They're just afraid of losing them.

That might have been true during the first gulf war but now we have the Fox News Propaganda Channel. CNN no where nearly as bad.

That would be Rome..

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 11-11-2007 04:38 AM

I got the balls enough to say that the US government is not broken, it needs some revision perhaps but not a complete overhaul.

What sucks about GFY is there is like 10 threads going on about how bad america sucks or this or that and none of them are started by americans. But everyone and their mother here is complaining about their biggest source of revenue for this industry.

Maybe we should stat a patriot campaign across the united states. Since the rest of the world fucking hates us so bad lets do a domain check on any porn site we are about to visit and make sure they are american owned since everyone hates us so much.

I am very worried about USA and Israel having Nuclear Weapons because they have already proved that they are both irresponsible states and have no value for human life other than their own. I am very worried. Nobody has the balls to stop them.

buzzy 11-11-2007 09:58 AM

The first step is for people to have the balls to step up and admit that there is a problem, it is never going to get fixed when you have people like DaddyHalbucks who keep lying to themselves that their foreign policy is fine. Newsflash buddy, this isn't the 1700's we all dropped the Empire state of thought a long time ago, seems as if the USA is still holding onto it, backwards country in the foreign policy area much? Either way, the first step is to ADMIT there is a problem and then see what you can do to fix it.

Because China shares a common goal with the terrorists - to undermine and defeat the US. China is suspected of supplying weapons and technology to terrorist groups and governments that support terrorism.

The sad thing is that China is doing this with the money they make from Americans buying Chinese made junk at Walmart.

I wish Iran make nukes fast along with intercontinental ballistic missile .. I'd love see a balance of power.

I cant imagine the calmness of US govt. toward Iran at that time .. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Here's an answer that most of you don't want to hear. There is really no way to change the government. It's rigged against you, nothing you can do to change it. When you step into the election booth every November, you have two choices. Despite a few fringe issues that don't matter, those two choices are basically the same. It's impossible for a 3rd party to run.

While I'd love to believe that fairy tale of going into the voting booth and changing my country, there is nothing that can be done anymore to change. This country is what it is.

tony286 11-11-2007 10:29 AM

The days of revolution are over, that could of happened when it was muskets against muskets. You need lots of money now to make change.Thats why if bloomberg runs he can make that change because he wont owe anyone.
We like to say we are this brave nation and we arent. After 911 everyone was ready to give up all their freedoms to feel safe. They dont realize the main goal of terrorizism isnt to kill its to create fear and that has happened. its makes me sad thinking about it.

tony286 11-11-2007 10:31 AM

Also this blaming clinton is boring, this happened during W's watch. They knew it was coming, ashcroft was told to stop flying commercially months before.

Drake 11-11-2007 11:27 AM

Iran getting Nuclear Weapons? We thought the same about North Korea. Now they got 'em. We can't strongarm them anymore so we live and let live. Anybody that thinks other countries won't get the bomb are living a pipe dream.
