I've had MAJOR insomnia lately.
Now that I am not partying and am healthy and shit, I just can't sleep like I used to.
I wake up like 2am after going to sleep at 11pm and can't go back to sleep. Fucking annoying. Last night was the worst. Those sleeping pills give me nightmares and I feel like shit in the morning and those herbal Sleep MD things don't help worth a shit. Anyone else have insomnia? |
I get it sometimes... usually when my mind's going a mile a minute for whatever reason... I've found the best way to combat it is to prepare your mind for rest.
My advice: Exercise during the day a couple of times. Don't eat a couple of hours before before you go to sleep. Pour a single or double of whatever booze looks good about an hour before you go to sleep. Groom yourself, and get into bed about 30 mins before your target bedtime with a book (best to read something more philosophical, educational, or light, and save those techno-thrillers or horror novels for when you're not having such a difficult time sleeping). A couple chapters/30 mins later be sure to have finished your beverage, turn off the light, pull up the covers, and close your eyes. Works for me 9 times out of 10... I'm out a few minutes later. Feel free to mix in anything you consider soothing toward the end of the day... maybe an evening yoga class (counts as an exercise session), schedule a blowjob with your favorite lady-friend, or whatever. If that doesn't work, try meditation.... several methods there. But whatever you do, imho - stay away from sleeping pills. :disgust |
Try working out and taking a nice warm shower before going to bed. Works like a charm for me.

i used to party all the fuckn time, and have the worst habits but cud always sleep 8-10 hrs if i wanted now that i just work all day i goto sleep at 12-1-2 and no matter waht i wake up at 4 and cannot goto sleep...this has been goin on for months, even if i drink hardcore when i go clubbn once in a while, i sleep at 5am and wake up 7am its ridiculous... 1 day a week i get normal sleep im pretty sure its stress on my part..i work like 85 hrs a week with my sites and job..and dont work out tooo much...still in ok shape im actually gonna cut down work to 70 hrs and see what that does.. |
i'm hitting the gym at least 4 times a week now. im so fucking healthy and in shape now that its disgusting. i am tired when i get home from the gym around 8pm, i watch some tv and i feel sleepy. prob is when i lay down, i can't fucking get to sleep and if i do i wake up a few hours later.
my mind won't slow down. it keeps thinking about shit and more ways to make money. its like a computer that won't stop with the fucking hourglass icon thinking incessantly. it is irritating. i've taken those sleeping pills. double the dosage even and it doesnt work. i don't drink anymore so thats out. fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk. |

You need to get away from the computer, and stop analyzing things - realize your ideas won't go away and you'll be able to think again and come up with great ideas again - you need to get your brain to slow down, find a simple/basic/starters guided meditation to relax. You will have a nervous breakdown otherwise. |

thats so true..i dont eat junk food at all, dont smoke, rarely drink, eat lots of fruits and run 20 min a day and MY MIND WONT STOP THINKING OF WAYS OF MAKING MONEY and when the few hours im not thinking, IM WORKING TO MAKE MONEY im like u , and im smart enuff to figure out the solution....theres 1 ...if i become millionaire in the next 3 years im safe, if not...shit ill be having insomnia for a bunch of years to come.. i wont settle, so insomnia is 100% my fault |
You can give up the booze, cigs, fast food and drugs - you dont actually live longer - it just feels like it.

only thing that really helps sometimes is popping a couple of those sleep md herbal pills, but im so sluggish and feel like shit the next day.

Keep in mind that the over the counter pills will make this WORSE, sure for the first few nights it will help but then your body won't sleep with out them (the box is full of shit)
It's most likley some type of stress, you might feel fine but there could be something that is taking it's toll... See a Dr. if you need to don't get hooked on the OTC pills!!! They are worse to get off of then narcotics! |

Best advice I can ever give you mate is don't use sleeping pills. You may as well be using hammer because valiums etc are just as addictive.

I feel like an expert on this topic as I've dealt with insomnia for many years in my life. It can truly destroy your life if you let it. Here are my tips that have helped me overcome it (most of the time):
-Don't mess with prescription sleep pills. You get addicted and they don't give a good sleep. -If you need help, take a small dose of melatonin. You don't want to use it all the time, but in those situations where you really need the help. -Turn lights off at night. After 8pm, just don't use much lights in the house. Watch TV in the dark, etc. Artificial light fucks with chemicals in your body that helps you get to sleep. -And my best tip, set your alarm for one time in the morning and never touch it. If you fall asleep at 4am, you wake up at 9am. If you fall asleep at 1am, you wake up at 9am. It will suck the first few weeks, but your body will eventually adjust and know that you get up at 9am every morning. You will naturally get tired and sleep at the proper time. |

I found that when I exercised every day after working... for atleast hour.... weight lifting 3 days a week.... 3 day's running... and never drinking any caffeine
I was alright most nights. Or you could just pickup a monster drug habit and everything will seem great! |
I'm in the same boat.I'm lucky if I get a good 4 hours.I exercise,don't eat or drink anything at least 3 hours before..just cant turn the mind off
