how do I add a cname record?
I had bought a domain and hosted the site for a nonprofit my parents were involved in. They arent involved anymore , so I wont be doing it anymore. I want to redirect the domain for them and when it expires they can just buy it. Well the main office of this org has a big site and for smaller groups they have them do microsites with ez templates.
I had spoke to the webmaster and he told me to: Add a CNAME record that points to smallsite.abc.org for both the www.dfeg.org and the dfeg.org aspects of the domain name. Went to my domain reg and see nothing on how to do this? Any help would be great. |
Do it through your host. I know you can do it with the Direct Admin control panel, I suspect other control panels are the same judging by this: http://help.blogger.com/bin/answer.p...n&answer=58317

At most registrar level, you can redirect a domain. This way you do not need a hosting account.
Otherwise, you can do an .htaccess file to redirect to the " new site ". Adding an A record involves the host to change the dns zone ... on a virtual, not sure they would do it. |
