so I'm in court today - and am read this

in the affidavit from the plantif

"a friend of mine who I know only as chad told me a friend of his told him that Scott's assiciate did such and such"

their lawyer ACTUALLY submitted that before a judge today in winnipeg at the court of queen's bench.

lets just say it went WELL for me :thumbsup

Zuzana Designs 11-09-2007 05:13 PM

hope they didn't pay much for their lawyer

CDSmith 11-09-2007 05:13 PM

Did he really spell it "assiciate"?

Where did he get his law degree, Puk U? :D

Any day in court sucks ... but at least it went well.

I'd admitted it many times before sweetheart.

pay attention, I've never been above admitting when I'm wrong.

I can't imagine. Although a lawyer with a black eye is often a welcome site. :D

I also can't imagine packing any more heresay into one albeit nearly unintelligible sentence.

So what are you being sued for?

I wouldn't sweat it. Testimony from friends only known as "Chad" rarely holds up...

Thats ALMOST as good as the time when I submitted an 11 page brief arguing (from a technical standpoint) that I was not a "fucking asshole", as the defendant had previously verbally argued at a prior hearing and incurred the judge's wrath therefore. The judge was not really amused with my pleading either, but the other party sure didn't bother to try and contest it.

If that's not solid evidence - nothing is :1orglaugh

The judge jail the plaintiff for being stupid? :winkwink:

Nah, not the plaintiff. The opposing counsel should have known better, though.

AmeliaG 11-09-2007 10:19 PM

Wow, that is crazy. I hope it didn't cost you to much to have to deal with nonsense like that.

Oh shit - missed the bit that this was actually used by counsel :1orglaugh

Sheesh... here is much the same as North America with lawyers - they churn them out of law colleges like conveyor belts of cookies from a bakery and most end up ambulance chasing, or similar, in the hope that one day they will see the inside of a courtroom :)

It's like swatting mostquitos to get good lawyers (and worth keeping when that happens), but also very easy to drown the amateur element when they start fantasizing to protect their scumbag clients.

nothing serious

i do a lot of real legal work with my law firm - as a bonus they throw in some idiot control when they're not busy mostly for shits and giggles.

several litigators fought over taking this one. apparently many of the experienced lawyers have some sort of pool about the stupidest or least likely to win cases. when they read this affidavit - well.......

Antonio 11-10-2007 02:26 AM

next time call my cousin Vinny, he's a great lawyer

SleazyDream 11-10-2007 08:41 AM

still laughing about it

Probably got the black eye from the client after he read that brief.
