Prosecutor Announces Charges Against The Pirate Bay
Interesting
Prosecutor Håkan Roswall announced that he plans to press charges against 5 people involved with The Pirate Bay before January 31, 2008. The 5 are suspected of facilitating copyright infringement. The Pirate Bay team does not believe that Roswall will be successful in his attempt to take down The Pirate Bay. They keep repeating that they are just running a search engine and did not store any copyrighted material on their servers. On top of that, information that leaked earlier this year showed that the Swedish police couldn?t find any usable evidence on the servers they confiscated during the raid last year. One of the biggest surprises is that the prosecutor plans to press charges against the well-known Swedish neo-fascist Carl Lundstrom, who is only remotely related to The Pirate Bay. Tobias Andersson, one of the Pirate Bay admins, admitted that Lundstrom?s hosting company Rix Telecom offered them cheap bandwidth in the past. However, this was only because one of the Pirate Bay founders used to work for Rix Telecom, nothing more, nothing less. It is not unlikely that Roswall decided to include Lundstrom in the list of suspects to manipulate public opinion. Lundström did confirm to IDG.se that he is under investigation, but refuses to be interrogated by the police. At this point we only know that Peter Sunde (aka Brokep) and Carl Lundstrom are identified as suspects, but the complete list will be published here as soon as it is known. Whatever the outcome of this case will be, The Pirate Bay have already announced that they?re here to stay. They told us that they will simply move to another country if they are outlawed in Sweden, without downtime! http://torrentfreak.com/pirate-bay-c...ounced-071108/ |
Hopefully they will go to jail long enough to die from anal trauma.

I want them to win now. Go Pirate BAy!
|
I hope they start going after programs that pay there bills too
|
yes, finally. :)

Trust me, our legal system won't let any visible guys behind TPB fly high... there's nothing in it allowing copyright/trademark infringement.
If they can get caught they will be. So unless they move to their little island (honestly, that was probably only their delusion of grandeur..), they're busted ;) |
|
Their downfall will likely be that they also running many of the major trackers. Those trackers are the key to the copyright castle.

Demonoid Shuts Down Again
Demonoid.com, one of the most popular BitTorrent trackers, was forced to go offline again because the Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA) threatened their ISP. demonoid It?s been just over 6 weeks since the CRIA allegedly shut down the Demonoid BitTorrent tracker. Details were scarce at the time, with lots of people simply claiming the site had some technical or server issues. Indeed, TorrentFreak came in for quite some criticism when we claimed the CRIA was involved, but when the site returned there were some ominous signs which seemed to support our claims. Eventually, the Demonoid trackers reappeared, followed by the site itself but was forced to block Canadian visitors by the CRIA. However, despite blocking Canadians, it seems the CRIA hasn?t yet had enough of harassing Demonoid and its host. On Demonoid.com we now read: ?The CRIA threatened the company renting the servers to us, and because of this it is not possible to keep the site online. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your understanding.? Indeed, Demonoid?s host had previously said that if it had any major hassle, it was likely it could pull the plug on the site. A message on the Demonoid IRC channel says: ?Site is down, tracker is up. Expect the site to return, unless we hear otherwise from Deimos.? Canada seems to becoming more unfriendly for BitTorrent sites - Demonoid aren?t the only ones being threatened by the recording labels there. Developing story http://torrentfreak.com/demonoid-shu...-again-071109/ |
As I've been saying for a few mths, it's just a matter of time before most of this shit is cleaned up :2 cents:

oh looky, porn pushers bitching about torrent sites, when 99% of you download programs illegally. The stupidity and hypocrisy is hilarious.
|
Bittorrent is hear to stay... while they don't host copyrighted material... they still will face lawsuits for years to come... I wish them the best
|
if they take down torrent something else will come about... to replace it...

Awesome news, Glad to see that all the thieving cunts that said nothing could be done about torrents were right.
|
The Bay will newer be closed down.. they have secured that they have 0% illegal stuff on there servers ect.. The bay its just an advanced search engine - nothing more or nothing less.
And they can allways find another contry to host there servers at... my 2 cents |
i somehow dont see the piratebay being touched anytime soon....
