I have 2 15" pioneers hooked up to my reciever which is hooked up to the computer. computer speakers don't really get much better than this. if i wanted to i could get 4 other speakers but that might be overkill.

Lane 09-20-2002 04:25 PM

ok then... which altecs is best?

CDSmith 09-20-2002 04:28 PM

JBL 100 watters.

I'd agree that Altec Lansings are the best PC speakers, but I can't remember what kind I have & they're packed up until I go get the rest of my shite... Uh, I could recommend some good headphones?

FlyingIguana 09-20-2002 06:40 PM

klipsch, its pretty much a no brainer on this one. think they're like 400.

I use Klipsh Promedia 2.1 (as i said in another thread today) and they are amazing. The 5.1 must sound out of this world ;P

My bud got a pair of the Klipsch 5.1 speakers and they're TOTALLY BAD ASS !!

They sell for $400, BUT you can head over to NewEgg and get them for $360 SHIPPED !!! Check it out here - http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...ion=36-119-103

I personally own the Logitech Z-560 4.1 THX, they're a pretty killer system and they're damn cheap, they retail for $200, but you can find them online for about $140. I wasn't about to drop the $360 for speakers alone, I could upgrade sooo much more with the extra money that I saved. The Logitech's are a great middle of the road set, great performance and cheap price.

Check out these suckers, the woofer is unshielded to give more punch and it has 400 watts backing it, so even though it's a cheaper system, it still has the balls.

You can look anywhere that you'd like online, most places will give these things a great review. The only thing that it could use is a TONE switch on the control, but that's only minor.

I hooked the PC up to the living room sound system (3 amps and 13 speakers) playing Team Fortress is hell for the neighbours ;)
Just get a half decent amp (£150) and a pair of big speakers - anything is going to sound better than a pair of tweeters plugged into a soundcard...

Lexxx 09-22-2002 03:51 PM

One of the best sounding speakers I had/have are Cambridge Sound Works - even the tiny ones produce very nice bass... :thumbsup

Plat 09-22-2002 03:59 PM

I got some Cambridge Soundworks as well.

like $60, surround sound, 4inch woofer that can bump very nice. must be the way thay designed it or something.

:thumbsup :thumbsup

Beastiepoo 09-22-2002 04:01 PM

Can't you just get a few leads and hook the 'puter up to your home stereo system? Most of the time, sound on the computer is pointless. Only if I've got a kickass game going or maybe wanna listen to MP3s does the sound quality make any difference. Why buy speakers for the computer if you've got a good set for the TV/DVD?

MrPopup 09-22-2002 04:02 PM

I have these connected to my XBOX.

They fucking rock the neighbourhood when I turn them up full playing HALO.
