Gallery ripper !! check this out

I made an interesting tool i call "gallery ripper"

What it does is rips all the videos or pictures from a gallery on the fly and splices them together into one video or slideshow.

http://ytmnd.webspacemania.com/ripper/hun.php

i used "thehun" tgp as an example.

notice the links all point to todays galleries on thehun, but when you click the galleries it will convert them into a video.

Test it out and tell me what you think of the idea.

Interesting. Very interesting actually. First thing I thought though, is that link within the video should go to the tour, not the gallery. The way it's setup now probably would reduce ctr, but surfers would like it... probably too much :winkwink:

not working for me...

Antonio 11-07-2007 05:45 AM

spacedog 11-07-2007 05:49 AM

digifan 11-07-2007 05:50 AM

So you're ripping off gallery builders now and stealing their bandwidth and sales now??

It's nice to see a banner of yours while all content gets ripped off from the gallery.

:(

mn 11-07-2007 06:34 AM

time to modify some .htaccess files...

u-Bob 11-07-2007 07:40 AM

works for some galleries, not all.

RawAlex 11-07-2007 08:45 AM

Smokey, interesting, but often against the terms of use of the content from the sponsors.

yumma 11-07-2007 09:37 AM

love your banner "watch more click here"

yah i should have mentioned that . if the script cant properly check the gallery by default it will just ignore the video and go straight to the gallery

i really highly doubt any sponsor would have a problem with it, it saves them bandwidth really ( kinda )

all it does is displays the content they were about to look at anyways

that was my original idea , but because this works "on the fly" it has to be able to grab the galleries html and find the join page link.. this is harder than it might appear , because it has to work for ALL galleries. The structure each gallery is setup will be different . so its not always so easy . if there is a mistake and it grabs the 2257 page link as the join page the user can't join. so although this isn't the ideal way to do it , it works and webmaster can still track individual galleries ( if your sponsor lets you track hits that way )

i'd rather see it embeded in a template rather than seeing it open mediaplayer. Besides thats its slow (for me atleast) and surfers tend to pick some thumbs and not all before they move on to the tour. After 2 or 3 unintersting pictures they might close it while there could be pics at the end of the row wich could make them click through.

Nice though.

good points..

its def not meant to replace galleries entirely. just a different way to view them. using a conventional pic gallery a surfer has to save each pic to their harddrive to view them fullscreen and for videos you have to manually drag and drop the videos into media player. this allows all the videos on the gallery to be played in one continuous stream.

wierd , it could be due to special settings you have in media player.

i have noticed sometimes it takes 2 clicks for the banner to work , not sure why that is. i

For videos it might work out I agree but I don't see it for pic galleries.

Still would never use it due to it opening mediaplayer, no possibility to embed it into a page? NO idea how this works so sorry if I made a stupid question ;))

You completely missed the piont. He was not saying that you should rip off content... he said that he used The HUN as an EXAMPLE.

Calm down...

fris 11-07-2007 01:17 PM

forcing media player to open is stupid, embed it into a page

doesnt mediaplayer open when you normally click a video ?

I'll make an example of it embedded

SmokeyTheBear 11-07-2007 02:52 PM
