Link Dropping Muther Fuckers

So today I am checking out a site I've had link trades up for maybe over five years and take a look and see that my link had been dropped without notice, while I had maintained his.

I hit him up about it and he says he emailed me blah, blah, blah...

So I start looking further into it and start seeing that a large percentage of link trades I had with "friends" had all been dropped as well -- maybe almost 50% of them.

Look, if you want to drop a trade, drop a trade...that is fucking fine. Just have the courtesy to tell me about it!

Otherwise you are just leaching MY TRAFFIC / PR and hoping I don't notice?

That is some real scumbaggy shit.

IT IS TOTAL BULLSHIT, DISHONEST, AND IT REALLY PISSES ME OFF!!!

OK that rant is done, I gotta get back to pulling links!

I get it all the time too. I swear some just count on people not checking and I would guess that most do not check. I am just about to the point of re-adding software that will check for me on my sites. I used to like to be able to just trust someone.

I already have this www.jaystrades.com - it scans all trades weekly and you can login and see a report. Plus, if you've used the invocation codes it will automaticly pull the link of the guy who dropped you and supports a.b.c trading.

I am thinking that anyone who wants to trade links with me from now on, it will be mandatory you use this.

Tends to happen alot when people update their sites. They forget or rearrange links and don't add them back. Sometimes they go through traffic stats and don't see you pushing them enough and just drop 'ya.

Has happened to me a few times. So much for "hard link exchanges" being meaningful.

Google Webmaster Tool will alert you when another site is no longer linking to you. Pretty nifty.

Even worse, with the recent changes in pagerank some people think they deserve a new link and drop the trade, mailing you that your site isn't PR X any more and ask for a new PR X link.

Funny enough, these guys don't mind if the PR of your site is suddenly higher, they won't ask for a lower PR link to their sites.

Straight to the blacklist...

Why is it that some of us don't have any problem remembering while others just seem to have amnesia when it comes to trades?

When I bought that piece of shit network probably 90% of the sites on it dropped trades as soon as they knew Kush sold it. It took me a minute to realize that, so I had someone go through the entire network and if there was even the suggestion of that someone had kept a trade up, I left it alone. Keep in mind that is not even knowing how most of the trades were set up in the first place because I wasn't the original webmaster.

Believe me, with my service I deal with this sooooo much. I'd say 35% of my trades need to be replaced within 30 days. I have scripts to scan for this but it still takes up a good chunk of my day.

Jay, I have been shocked at the people who dropped links that, when I contacted, just sort of went "whatever". I understand mistakes, I understand recoding a page and forgetting a group of links... but just blindly dropping links without a reason just ain't cool at all.

well, i hateto go against the hrain, but i just checked my links exchanges and some of my blogs have gotten retardedly huge lists of cheaters and crap ass sites all over them. i'll probably drop a good 50% if not more of the links on these blogs shortly, and i ain't gonna be sending notice to every one of them.

i have also decided, NO MORE FUCKING LINKEX, from now on every link exchange i do is done manually...

It really shows the state of the industry. Many of the trades I have done were with people who you would not think would steal from you. Meaning I did not just post random who wants to trade links threads and swap with everyone who asked. On top of that I checked a few sites that I purchased one or two year hardlinks on, guess what... No fucking link anymore.

I liked it more when the majority could be taken at their word. Where I did not need to babysit every single tiny little trade or small purchase. Where ones word actually meant something. I am so damn ready to just get a group of people together each with their own strengths and just primarly work with them.

that's the only way to do it. i haven't even been around that long and i am realizing that i just want to get a handful of people i've dealt with already who are running larger networks and stick to exchanging with them. then if i want to later, i can buil another lower tier feeder network yet, that i will open to whoever wants to swap links, but ultimately my top tier blogs will be my own links, and my middle tier links will only be exchanged with those i trust, manually...
