Have you started Christmas Shopping yet?

I actually started in October:1orglaugh

I want to have 90% of that shit complete by November 31st.

What sucks is the girls are so much harder to shop for. Megan's 21, Hanna's 15. Used to be I could just walk into a toy store and grab whatever new Barbies or Bratz dolls were out, of course you have to get the newest Barbie car.

Now, you actually have to take personalities into consideration when buying their gifts...LOL...so now instead of those dolls...it's things like make-up, CD's, electronics, perfume, and of course clothes...tons of clothes.

polish_aristocrat 11-06-2007 09:20 AM

its fucked up that Christmas season starts before December

and no, i didnt buy any gifts yet

I will buy them on December 15th or so

dont think about Christmas at all now

Pretty soon if you don't have your shit bought by November 31st, you'll be out of luck, because they'll already be selling Valentine's day gifts.

ADL Colin 11-06-2007 09:25 AM

I did almost all my shopping online last year and plan the same this year

SykkBoy 11-06-2007 09:26 AM

I started shopping for my 11 year old daughter early because she wants race gear and it's tougher to get...she's racing mini-motos now and wants new gear...I told her to find a sponsor ;-)

Strickie 11-06-2007 09:30 AM

I'll probably start around the 1st of December

Mr.White 11-06-2007 09:33 AM

24th December is the day ill go out shopping for presents. Not earlier.

MichelleB 11-06-2007 09:34 AM

Yep already started. I'm usually done by now but, I just been so busy:upsidedow

larrymax 11-06-2007 10:29 AM

I bought myself a new bed. Does that count?

KBoogie 11-06-2007 10:36 AM

I love to shop during the Christmas holiday, not before. It's not about "getting the shit done". for me at all. I start asking around about this time and generate my gift lists and while i'm out doing general shopping i'll make mental notes but the real fun for me is shopping with the decorations and lights and music. Everyone is so festive and pleasant and the flavors and smells of the holidays are amazing.

In order to avoid any stress, I valet and make sure I have enought time as I plan to stand in lines.

I hope I never feel the need to shop before Halloween in order to "get the shit done." :2 cents:

Scott McD 11-06-2007 10:40 AM

Haven't started yet. I hope to do most of my shopping online.

Fucking hate the shops in the build up to Christmas. Fucking assholes everywhere...

ShellyCrash 11-06-2007 10:40 AM

I already started.

For teenage girls in the fam I usually buy gift cards to sephora, althougb $100 doesn't stretch too far there :winkwink:

Jman 11-06-2007 10:47 AM

Actually I'm planning a trip to Plattsburg so I can buy all my stuff in the US.

MissMina 11-06-2007 11:56 AM

Nope was done early last year. This year I haven't even started yet but plan too shortly. Catalogs and online don't think I'll be stepping foot in any stores. Still have the shits of it from last year. Love the holidays but hate them. :2 cents:

GrouchyAdmin 11-06-2007 11:58 AM

Already bought most of them.

This sounds like a good idea... wow I can't believe it is already Nov 6 - time is flying!!

D 11-06-2007 12:05 PM

Started buying things online just this last week... as deals make themselves known to me.

I typically do the majority of my shopping the week prior, but as I'll be traveling a lot, I can't do that this year.

TondaB 11-06-2007 12:10 PM

Yep...I am over half way done:)

nAtuRaLbEautY 11-06-2007 12:35 PM

not yet. i need to take lists first. i don't want to repeat my previous Christmas wherein i forgot to buy something for my relatives.

katushka 11-06-2007 12:41 PM

We do a secret santa deal with all extended family so we wait til we get the names pulled. Saves time and money.

cool1 11-06-2007 12:47 PM

I started but then stopped
figure with the canadian dollar high and the US dollar low the prices here would come down in time and they have started to already.
so end of this month it will be time to start again. gonna get me some good deals.

Th!nk 11-06-2007 01:13 PM

yes, did some for myself and for our house.
will still make a list so everyone dear to me will have some present from me. :)

There it is...the typical GFYer response to just about everything.

Read a thread, interpret it how you see fit, then spin it into a negative so you can somehow feel superior.

Congrats, you're teh winnerz

LOL no $100 for teenage girls won't stretch too far anywhere anymore.

That's what sucks. Just 5 years ago with Hanna that's 9 Barbies...LOL...but now that's 5 t-shirts at Hot Topic

Gina Cochina 11-06-2007 01:35 PM

Girls really are harder to shop for. My husband wants a tattoo. My son wants a sitar. My daughter refuses to say what she wants. She's sixteen, and she just insists she has absolutely no opinion whatsoever where her gift is concerned, which is a damn dirty lie! She does this every year, meanwhile my thirteen-year-old son always has a huge, expensive list of things he expects to get. I swear, she just refuses to say to make him look greedy and bad.

Violetta 11-06-2007 01:49 PM

Nah... Im gonna start in december

ChrissyWebmasterChecks 11-06-2007 01:56 PM

I like the idea of internet shopping. I have two little ones, so the shopping is not so bad yet. We're talking Elmo and swing set...

After Shock Media 11-06-2007 02:07 PM

I am nearly done.
Canned jams have been made, all my soap material is here and just need to make the bars, then if I have some extra time I may make up some candles too but that really is not a guarenteed item.

I am so glad that nearly everyone is old enough that I do not have to buy gifts, always hated that. There is just a few kids left in the extended family and not typically people I would buy for anyways, though their parents will get something.

As a kid we used to make our own Christmas Candy, and my mom and dad sold it around the neighborhood for extra cash.

Those are some of my fondest memories, making that stuff.

About 8 years ago, I had some really young cousins, I was 33 the oldest was 12, and they wanted to do something for all the aunts and uncles, so I taught them how to make all the candy my parents taught me to make.

It is still recalled as one of their funnest Christmas' ever.

Someone already bashed me for using the word "shit" when referring to my Holiday shopping...but this is my favorite time of year.

One reason I started in October, is because when I'm out and about I'm always thinking of others in my family, and when I come across something that I think fits them I get it.

I like to compile stockings, I don't care how old people are, you may still get a stocking from me. It will be the funnest thing to go through, and make you feel like a big kid again, because there will not be anything in there that you "need."

It will be full of nothing but fun crap to make your day brighter, and yeah a bunch of Christmas candy...LOL.

After Shock Media 11-06-2007 02:18 PM

Oh that reminds me, we do make cookies and candy too. That is less of a gift and more of a visiting offering.

We also do buy silly crap for stockings.
Lastly I will be buying something for the wife and then having her buy something for the house for my gift.

VeriSexy 11-06-2007 09:55 PM

I picked up some things here and there

Spunky 11-06-2007 10:05 PM

Vitasoy 11-07-2007 01:21 AM
