Joseph M. (Joe) Arpaio Scares me.
 

Just thought I would share a fear.

I wish we had more men like Joe. I think our country would be alot safer.

Just don't get arrested and you'll be fine, heck you don't even live in AZ do you?

I'm from Tucson, and I admire Joe. You guys in Phoenix have a great Sheriff. There was good piece on him that I read a few days ago. He's a hell of a guy.

He's done a good job thus far, but he is getting a little power crazy.

Exactly. People only hate cops when they get busted, but when shits fucked up they still call 911. Lame.

Do some research on Arpaio before you make judgement.

I have only been detained before and I turned myself in once, no real hate of law enforcement. Actually respect what most do assuming they are not crooked.

He however scares me. I can however easily understand why people like him. Just not to fond of a sheriff that promotes a god like status and ignores certain federal issues.

I do not live in AZ but between him and my record with Murphy's law I have always stayed out of that area and deffenatly that county.

Yeah I love a guy tough enough to put women in chaingangs and server inmates rotted food. Lord knows I'LL never be in jail and want humane treatment.

I met Sheriff Joe once, at a rotary club meeting.
(yes, I was in the rotary club once)
He spoke for a few minutes, basically talked about himself & how great he was and all the plans he had.
He cut me in the food line too, no joke.

My concern currently is he is obviously doing a lot of racial profiling. I can be considered a little darker skinned. I am Spanish (Mediterranean type) and American Indian. Alas could be easily stopped for possibly being a Mexican. Now this would truly suck if by chance I forgot my ID, or my ID even looked funny.

PS what would happen to me if I was carrying my CA state or OR state medical marijuana card and had an ounce on me?

Some of his actions do seem a bit over the top and excessive. I can't imagine being in jail in an outside tent in the middle of the AZ summer. I do however think that his jail most likely has a much lower occurrence of repeat visits than on average because inmates will do anything not to go back to his jail.

Joe addressed that issue with a comment to the effect of... "Our troops in Iraq are in 120 degree heat in full battle gear. How humane is that?"

Joe is a douche. He wanted to pass a law that would give cops the right to do random searches of vehicles. A reporter interviewing him said. "Have you never heard of a little thing called the constitution?"

fighting crime in a city with exponential population growth + illegals everywhere is a rough business.

as for the racial profiling, from what i've read and seen, is more along the lines of profiling for illegal alien trafficking.

yeah sltr... and did you know Joe broke the French Connection cocaine smuggling ring? Did you know he arrested Elvis? Did you know he was a Korean War vet? Did you know he was in weekly shootouts when he was a DEA agent?

There was a special on the MOJO channel about tent city he set up in Phoenix. Now that is a scary jail!
