I like getting my magazines each month and would not want to give them up to stare at a computer screen even more then I already do.

tick tick tick... that is the sound of the clock counting down on the magazine era.

Long lead times (often 3 or 4 months) and a very eco-unfriendly format (relatively expensive paper for the most part) pretty much doom the format. Why wait months to read a story when you can get it online now?

Magazines may survive a bunch longer if they work out the need for long lead times so that they are relevant again.

Personally if I ran a mag I would have been putting it on the web a long as time ago. I'd set it up like a portal site and show the exact same content on the web as in the mag.

Then just sell advertising. Why magazine companies don't do this, is beyond me.
