First Time CC fraud
Well after 4 years in this buisness and using my cc for tons of
on-line purchases someone used my cc to make fraudulant purchases. This was the cc that I use only for buisness purchses too. I got a call from an online gold broker to confirm my purchase, after convincing them I did not make the purchase I called my cc company only to find several more charges had been made over the weekend. My question is how did the Gold Broker get my Phone # ? I can't imagine the person using my cc # would have given it to them. Guess I'm lucky it took this long for it to happen!! |
actually the credit card user did give it to him ...
In one of my positions I investigate credit card fraud over the internet on a daily basis. Credit Cards now rely on a system called AVS ( Address Verification System) and if the info isn't right then the cc fails. Knowing this the people buying credit card numbers are also buying all your info too. Shut that credit card down and get another one issued. |
I'm going to bet the email address they used ended in .lt

Same here. Been using cards online pretty hardcore for the last 4 years without incident.
Last week bank calls me to ask about some charges, they do it all the time, no big whoop I thought. As they read through the list of recent transactions, a couple grand worth the charges from Turkey popped up. No big deal. Cancel the card and perform chargebacks. Still a pain in my ass though. |
Yea , I cancelled the card straight away, what amazed me was how easy it was to do the chargebacks, they didn't even ask any questions other than which charges do you need taken off.
|
Yea, that happened to me... Some asshole went crazy on Best Buy.Com buying a big screen TV, PS2, and alot of CDs....
BTW, Jimbo are you the same Jimbo from darkbeauty from back in the day? The Dawg |
This has never happened to me, as I do not own a CC, but I think it must be awfull if someone woult spend your money without your knowlege.

Problem is that when you use your Bank card you dont have the protection of doing chargebacks or anything along those lines to protect yourself incase some cracker does get it. |
Do not use a bank card. Period ever ever ever!!!

http://www.mastercard.com/general/zero_liability.html there it is right there. mastercard-branded card. doesn't say anything about it having to be a *credit* card. and actually, i know this isn't the case. i just called my bank the other day because some receipts were stolen (bad me). they asked me if any of a list of charges were legit. they all were, but why would they ask if they weren't gonna take 'em off? i think this is urban legend or something. :) |
