paypal fraud

Anybody else been a victim of paypal fraud lately? Yesterday I had someone get into my account somehow and send themself 530 dollars. Of course I notified paypal immediatley and am currently going through the fraud proceedings. I am just curious if anybody else has ever had this happen.

Get a real bank account -- only use paypal for transfers. It's pathetic keeping money in such a high-risk environment.

They transfered it from my credit card...........

Can you clarify. Are you saying that you do not have funds desposited with PayPal but that someone managed to access your credit card info via PayPal? Or someone that had your credit card info used that info to transfer money to themselves via PayPal?

If you want to send money via Pay Pal, you can put a CC on file. In fact, if you want to send a lot of money (thousands), you need to have one, I think, or they will keep locking up your bank account and you'll have to wait until they unlock it.

He probably had his credit card on file and someone hacked his account and sent money using his card. That's my guess.

how hard would have your password been to brute force... did u use random characters and numbers?

just interested, trying to figure out how at risk accounts are

I don't use PayPal unless I must. I have had to use it for some purchases because that was the only means of payment allowed. That required me to provide CC info to PayPal and funds were transferred from the CC to the provider of the purchase. Is this what you mean by having a CC on file?

Hmm...was it a lucky guess of a common password? Did you leave your account logged in a public computer? Or was your password good and the account was just hacked somehow? Kinda scary.

I should have mentioned this before. I think you should not depend upon PayPals investigation but deal directly with your CC holder.
