I think it goes beyond religion. Evolution just hasn't been taught for long enough and isn't covered in-depth enough in our schools. If you're over 35, you probably weren't taught about it in school. It's tough to make people change their train of thoughts when they have been taught a certain way since birth.

Just look at our country and its fascination with Christopher Columbus. Make a poll asking if Columbus was a great man or ruthless murderer. I bet you the poll shows overwhelmingly in favor of great man simply because that is what we were taught in school.

As long as evolution is taught in schools, those numbers who don't believe will get smaller and smaller.

everything on this planet evolves and continues to evolve ... its how living organisms survive i.e. how insects get immune to pesticides over time...

* poof * you're here. mmmmmmkay

why couldn't god be involved in evolution? thats the new one they are going to be getting on board with pretty soon... maybe not.

Once evolution becomes a common fact the religious peeps will just say that God made evolution happen.

Denial why dont you get that?

Judging by your post in the 'fuck your mother' thread...concensus is you haven't evolved from the douchebag stage.

What is amazing to me is that the 20% that don't believe in evolution have figured out how to get on the Internet.

i think that's where god fits in. up until now the upright walking monkeys didn't really have an answer for how we got here because evolution was a little deep for folks in biblical times ( like womens rights etc ... )

How about it just existed?

A devout evolutionist, myself, I think that to say that, "unequivocally, there was no 'helping hand' - in whatever form it might have taken - in the development of the human species," is simply unenlightened.

With more stars in our known universe than grains of sand on all the beaches on all the Earth, there are, certainly, constructs and processes beyond the scope of our understanding.

The common theory: cooled and coalesced energy.

E = mc^2

The idea is that it all came from a singularity... a geometric point in which all matter existed. Sounds kinda whack until you understand the science behind it...

Folks, 'we' all know 'God' created 'Adam' and 'Eve', they fucked, and here we are.

it's a 'fact' well-documented in the 'Bible'.

Skip that. They taught and still teach kids people thought the world was flat and he would sail off the end. Just please do not look up when the globe was invented.

They already have covered it. They get a little goofy and say what caused the big bang? Well that is still a scientific unknown, we do know its not because the universe is on a yo yo effect, it does not eventually stop accelerating and then come crashing back into one tiny mass like some thought. That has been proven wrong. We just know there was one more electron than neutron and apparently after cancelling each other out there still was at least one left over. This was enough. What created that is the X. Though one could ask the same question about God, before God what created God.

GatorB 11-04-2007 07:52 PM

When people said the Earth wasn't the center of the universe they were either kill or jailed. Even when if was proven. It took decades of other people to also prove it before the church had to give in and agree. This is how backwards Jesus freaks are. If you keep denying something long enough it will eventually be untrue.

The ironic part is that if there was a god the most LOGICAL thing he could do is create a mechanism that would help life survive on earth through the changes that continually happen instead of having always to do everything himself. Why can't evolution be that mechanism? I mean what kind of retarded god do you have to be to create a world in which you must constantly be trying to controll everything all at once all the time?
