Kandahar - $2100/day jobs (would you go?)
Lately a local radio station here in Niagara has been advertising jobs (mostly private security positions) for Kandahar. $2100/day they're paying.
If its a 3-month contract...question is - would YOU go? |
Is it through blackwater?
ammo included?
nope .. . .. .
yes I would go! Can I bring my laptop? And still write about porn?
For $2100 /day ?
Ofcourse! Who wouldn't? Anyone that plays in the casinos or lottery or any sort of gambling would have a much much better odds making profit through this job opportunity :1orglaugh |
You mean per week?It cannot be per day.Plus what i sense of big salary since you wont survive and then they wont need to pay you.

And no, it was per day...not a weekly rate. |
I'd rather make $21 a day sitting in my safe comfy chair ;)
nah - not even if it would be per hour
Yes, I'd go for $2100 a DAY.
If I didn't write code then I would definitely do it.
It's worth getting killed for that much. hehehe. |
I thought the average contractor made 10-20k/month.
WG |
That is definitely the correct wage. My friends husband is earning 60$k a month as a defence contractor in Iraq. The stress he is putting his wife through is enormous. The woman looks like she has aged 5 years in 5 weeks. I think it is preety selfish and I wouldn't risk my life for any amount of money.
Whats that, 200 euros a day now?
i would.

No Way. They showed a video of a truck driver driving down some road over there. The camera was inside his truck and he was getting shot at constantly. he was freaking out.
I felt bad for him, Id be flipping out. |
If they paid our soldiers 1/5 of that they'd have a nice 200% raise.
Would I risk my like daily for 2k ? Definitely NOT ! The reason why they pay that much is that the odds of getting killed are even higher than for a soldier.
2.1k a day is twice the average monthly income after taxes in Indiana, hugeeeeeeeeeee :2 cents:
We risk our lives everyday by taking our car......
lol... giving away your life for 2k daily... that's very stupid...

The question is, do we want to come back from Kandahar like this?

Government (taxpayers) vs. private contractors. My understanding of Blackwater down in the U.S. is they tend to hire poorly trained, unqualified Rambo-wannabes who lack the discipline and self-control to conduct themselves appropriately in theatre. Whereas in Canada, the government is giving preferential consideration to a security firm that employs retired ex-military personnel. Not to say either system is perfect, of course. But Canada seems to be maintaining a little more diligence and selectiveness in who we send. |
That's 189 000$ for 3 months... I guess it worth a little risk!
My buddy just finished his third tour (3 years) in Afghanistan. he didn't make as much working as a refrigeration mechanic but 100k+ a year still ain't too shabby and he can finally buy a house.
Here's some pics from over there. This is how you put an air conditioner out of it's misery http://www.voxpic.com/out.php/i42_n6...1279992328.jpg http://www.voxpic.com/out.php/i43_n6...1280278438.jpg http://www.voxpic.com/out.php/i44_n6...1281029138.jpg |
What company is this?
talk about taking a big risk.
i guess if u have nothing going for you over here then it would be an option |
with legal immunity getting pulled for private security expect pay rates to go up.
u would be better off robbing a bank

Hmm...dunno if I could equate spendin' 3 months doing security in Kandahar with robbing a bank. Maybe I've seen too many episodes of Cops where things don't go as planned for the dude in the ski mask. :1orglaugh |
where do you sign up ?
I'll go right now... where do I sign up?
189k for 3months is not a bad deal.... if you live... but I can only imagine how much the security company is making.
alot of big money no alot of people go there at the moment but very dangerous alot of millitants are attacking truck drivers and other people who are working there.
no way,i bet i would be killed on arrival lol
Shiiit, i got paid about 1/100000th of that stationed over there in the marines =/
kbr.com turned me down for computer monitor room guy. i was bummed.
It's alot of money, and money makes people do crazy things.
yes. i do
Damn yes - would like to do the Kandahar run, but not bothering about a job, nor covering some corrupt govt officials ass. They can look after themselves.
More just to see the place, get a feel of the undercurrent - and prob see that Afghans are no different to people in Flensburg, Michigan or Rio. Pity - that's another bombed country which suffered, they were promised much, but the promises were all talk. So... they are back to poppy fields, (or the Bank of bin Laden), to earn a living.... |
why would I take a cut in pay to go to that god-forsaken shithole?
beats the fuck out of joining the military. whats the link ??? Help us americans thinking about joining up. How do we join blackwater fuck this
Do they offer training or do you have to have a security background?
