Will removing embedded Window's Media from my site save me bandwidth?
If so a significant amount?
|
sure, so will turning off your site. it's all about ROI.
|
Embedded versus not embedded won't effect bandwidth.
Having a link to the plain mpeg or wmv file will make customers happy, though, since embdedding doesn't work reliably across different platforms and browsers. wmv, mpeg, quicktime, and the current version of Flash all use the same video format under the hood, just with different packaging, so they'll all use the same bandwidth. (Plus or minus a few bytes for the packaging). |

uhmmmm yea...
c'mon... you knew this answer better than anyone else here... you know what your traffic is... you know what your embeds are... dont you? there is no long story about it... Yes... I believe you want to look into flash players |
I figure non embedded would use less because the surfer downloads it once and then can watch it 100x on his computer without running your bw everytime.
|
true, and if you offer downloadable clips, some will only download the first and last ones.
