A domain name is worth nothing. Certain domain names get some type in traffic, but you can buy a domain name for $10 and buy some traffic and have a better go at it.

that tool is sort of ridiculous. It's based on traffic and links, but doesn't take into account conversion rates or income generated.
I'd say that what people do once they get to the site is as important as to how they got there (ppc, refferal, bookmark or type in). Having a domain name that's memorable will improve it's chances of success, but isn't generally enough to build an empire from alone.
That being said, I'd also think it would be odd for the people that bought the site for money like that to just sit on it and try and sell the type in traffic alone.
