Do you talk to the cab-driver?
Sometimes I don't mind some chat but usually I want to be left alone with my thoughts instead of hearing that guy's opinion on weather and politics?
how about you? and if you don't want to chat but the guy keeps talking, then how do you handle it usually? |
shut the fuck up and drive, idiot!
|
I chat with them, usually only in cabs when I am loaded.
|
i never chat with them and i'm ready to kill any driver who tries to talk to me
it's really irritating |
I almost always chat with them.
|
Never. I don't think some of them can drive and talk at the same time.
|
I talk to them, they are usually from somewhere else and have had interesting lives.

You'd have to speak their language first -- never been in a cab where the driver had command of English.
|
I like talking to the immigrants. It seemed like San Diego has a lot of drivers from Somalia... it was kind of interesting hearing about eastern Africa. Anyone that thinks they have it bad should just talk to one of those guys. :-)

yeah when im loaded in the cab the cabbie becomes my best friend and he should because he is saving me the trouble of getting a DUI |
I have a regular driver who has been taking me to the airport for years. We have developed a rapport. But on the drive home from the airport, it is usually some guy I've never met, so I'm fairly quite.
Or...perhaps the reason I am so quiet is because I am half in the bag from the flight? |
I don't really care about what they have to say or what happened in their life
|
Not usually. Sometimes they'll try and talk to me though. Very strange sometimes. Other times just usual chit-chat. The most strange cabbie had to be the one that was on the cellphone with a 1-900 number. Creeeepy.

I just had a chat with a Russian cab driver. He was telling me about how whats going on in Russia now was like America in the 20's ... and a whole lot of other fun stuff. It was almost really interesting
cab rides are boring, i always talk to them |
Usually if the dude is cool ill talk but if not then i keep my mouf shut and they usually do too
|
I chat with everybody. I think most people are extremely interesting or comedic at the least. Specially service related people.
|
i always talk to the cab drivers unless im severely hung over or something. those guys always have some cool stories to tell.
|
If you talk to them, they will let you blaze a bowl in their ride!
|
Only when I'm drunk.
NYC cabbies love drunken fools. |
In the UK i do, but in the US i don't. I don't speak Arabic.
|
I love chatting with the cab driver. In montreal we got alot of Arabs and Haitians .... I dont think u people understand how hilrious some of the stories they have.

In the cabs I've ridden in, the driver was usually an African-American. And by "African-American", I mean English was not their first language, nor the US their home country. |

i prefer silence too: that way i can daydream and he can focus on the road
|
People like this always have something interested to tell you about .. I always talk to anyone who I think have something new to tell me, unless my mood is off of course.
|
Usually.
Chatting and thinking at the same time isn't that big of a deal - and sometimes the collaboration of the two leads to certain epiphanies. The only times I'm generally not up for chatting is when I'm tired, and getting a tocuh of shut-eye, or reading... and most cabbies are smart enough to realize when I'm up to either. And if one wasn't, I don't think I'd bother being rude to them... no real sense in that... I'd just let them know what was up.\, and that I'd prefer a little quiet, if they didn't mind. |
