Okay, so we all have differing opinions on Americans and their place in the world. Especially us non-Americans with our mouthy provocation.

However, the free exchange of political thought in this forum represents true democracy - not the democracy the Republican Administration is trying to sell their nation. Anyway, that point is moot in reference to the point of this thread.

1) He is a born-again bozo, so he is more likely homophobic than homo - besides, there is no reason to insult homosexuals by falsely labeling Bush as one.

2) Clinton's own economic advisor has admitted that they got lucky with the economy. This economic downturn was going to happen no matter who won the election, it started before the election was ever held, and is no more Bush's fault than it is Clintons.

Frankly, I don't think the country would be any better off, or any worse off, if Gore was President. Oh, the Republicans will tell you we'd be worse off, and the Democrats will tell you we'd be better off - but its bullshit. 9/11 would probably have happened anyway, we'd still have taken out Afghanistan in pursuit of bin Laden, and we'd still be going after Sadam. The words coming out of the White House would be a little different, the actions of the Sec. of State would be a little different, the bozos in the House and Senate would be reciting each other's lines, but when it was all said and done it would be ...

No -- you can bullshit all you want but he was voted into office... the popular vote doesn't matter and you (hopefully) know it. If your buddy Gore wouldn't have fought the correct election results... there would've been no drama.

And, unless the Democrats nominate Jesse Jackson, I will vote for anybody BUT Bush. IMHO that puts Jerry Falwell and Pat Roberston way too close to the White House, it will retire Rev. Aschole to somewhere, and let the parolees from Enron working for Bush cook the books of a whole new generation of companies.

The election of 2000 is one of the sorriest episodes in American history in years. You are right ... from the votes that were counted, Bush won. Of course, there were some ballots in republican counties designed to look like you were voting for Gore when in fact you were voting for Buchannan, and there were lots of folks who had voted for years who suddenly were no longer registered, had to produce three forms of ID, yada yada yada.

It's too bad that nobody but that flaming liberal ()not), Vincent Bugliosi (the guy who prosecuted Charles Manson, amongh other people) that Anton Scalia had two lawyer sons working for the Bush campaign. You ever heard of conflict of interest? And this supreme court's ruling was the most laughable piece of judical bullshit produced by a Supreme Court in years - that feeling is held by Constitutional scholars (sorry - Rush is not considered one of them) on both the left and right.

And since when did it somehow become illegal to FOLLOW the law by contesting election results? There is nothing either illegal or unethical in what Gore did.

Bush is the president; it's time to quit crying over spilt milk. But there is enough dirt to go around for both sides ...

but if politics in USA are simular to the way things work here.
there is no real differences between the two major parties in almost all policy areas and the kind of words they dress them up in, and it doesn't matter who you vote for at the end of the day. all i can say is america has sure as hell gotten their moneys' worth of entertainment out of the last two presidents :)
