So I just picked up my cat at the vet..

and the final bill was $1500, shite. He got hit by a car a week ago and was close to dying but the outlook it better now after pelvis surgery.

It's good to have him home though, I hope he will recover well.

You can't put a price on a friend. Human friends, perhaps...

Ross 10-30-2007 03:49 PM

buzzy 10-30-2007 03:50 PM

Yup, insurance covered about 70% of the total cost, still had to pay 1500 though and for me that's a pretty good chunk of cash.

Jman 10-30-2007 04:30 PM

Bless you my friend for doing this ;-)

shekinah 10-30-2007 04:35 PM

That's sad:(

PornMogul 10-30-2007 04:38 PM

sucks but if he had died I bet you woulda payed alot more just to get him back if there was a price. Be thankful it was only 1.5k and that you still have a friend.

wow 30% is $1500.... Going by that, total cost was somewhere around $5000??

A lot of people would have just had the cat put to sleep, well done for not taking that option. You can always earn more money!

tony286 10-30-2007 04:42 PM

hope he has a speedy recovery and keep your cat in the house its cheaper.Studies have shown a indoor/out door cat lives 8 yrs on avg.A indoor cat lives 18.

papill0n 10-30-2007 05:15 PM

Yes the total was somewhere around 5K, animal care is outrageously expensive in Sweden. Had to fix him though, he is the best cat ever.

frostyimpressions 11-01-2007 02:41 PM

Awwww. I hope your cat recovers well. He's in my thoughts.

The Duck 11-12-2007 06:49 PM

Best of luck to your kittys recovery.
I would have paid that for my cat too as he is my baby and I cherish him dearly. I am guessing you feel the same way about yours.

I bought pet insurance... I know it sounds stupid... as long as you look into the company and read the fine print... it's a good investment... Its already paid for itself...

Not stupid in the least, actually. Responsible and highly intelligent, I would say.

I've spent probably close to $2000 this year alone in vet bells on uninsurable dogs. I WISH I could get the insurance. :)

My current cat is an indoor one. There's too many assholes around here to be trusted letting her outside...

MikeSmoke 11-13-2007 01:38 AM

I wish I had bought pet insurance...I never thought it would pay for itself.
But in the past month I've spent almost $3500 on my cat's medical care, and he goes back in on Wednesday so the bill will be going up again..... :Oh crap
He's worth it.... :liebe028:
But it does hurt that I spend a lot more on his medical care than on mine :helpme
