So I was on Hollywood Blvd tonight . . .

Checking out all the freaks, and to tell you the truth, I am not sure that Halloween weekend made much of a difference.

After Shock Media 10-28-2007 12:44 AM

Someone shall play spot the irony here :winkwink:

baddog 10-28-2007 12:46 AM

I then cruised down Sunset, and felt like this piece of art was coming back to life for a night.

Do you drive? Is it possible for two directions of traffic to be stopped on the same side of the same light?

Even if your perspective was correct (it isn't), I have a feeling that guy will be long gone by the time that light turns green for the eastbound vehicle.

I find it odd that a wheelchair bound gentleman would find anything "funny" about the possibility of anyone possibly doing serious harm to someone's leg.

baddog 10-28-2007 01:08 AM

BTW, you might notice that both biker's feet are off the ground . . . they are obviously moving.

High Plains Drifter 10-28-2007 01:09 AM

You're over-analyzing the fuck out of that painting.

DeadFidel 10-28-2007 01:11 AM

Brings back memories:) Mid-90's I lived near Hollywood Blvd. Freak show.

I do not find in funny when people get hurt in real life. In paintings and on tv I do not give a crap. Bikers riding besides cars is hazardous and maybe thats why I find it so damn funny, specially since many bikers proclaim it is always car drivers faults.

Oh an since you asked, yes it is possible for both directions to be stopped at the same light.

Thanks for the gentleman comment though. Seriously lighten up old man. It was a damn observational joke.

If you are talking about ASM, he isn't "seeing" at all. His comments are totally inaccurate along with impossible.

One thing about David Mann, his stuff is very detailed. He would not paint the possibility of a serious injury unless it actually portrayed the accident as it happened.

Fact is, he would make a two part painting. Part one would be a horrific accident, bike being crushed, rider flying thru the air into oncoming traffic.

Part two would have him sitting on the side of the road, smoking a cigarette, with his buddy comforting him. A white Cadillac will be stopped . . . obviously the car that stopped just in time to not hit him.

Mann is quite detailed.

On the same side of the light? How would that happen? I understand if they were on opposites sides of the intersection, but not on the same side.

Besides, both riders feet are off the ground, and they don't appear to be the types to sit in stopped traffic, as evidenced by the fact that they are splitting lanes.

High Plains Drifter 10-28-2007 01:19 AM

I couldn't really tell from that little pic, but I recognize that guy's stuff after you mention his name. Isn't he responsible for the Easyriders "look"?

Actually, your observations (or lack thereof) are what the joke is.

Yes, David Mann. He was the epitome of biker art.

I missed both legs off so yes I was wrong there, though still it looks like he may hook his leg.

I still feel riding in such a way is dangerous.

As for how... umm light further down street since it obviously is a cruise, emergency vehice, pedestrian traffic to name a few possibilities, hell lets toss in a broken down or out of gas vehicle. I do know some from that era only put enough gas in tank to barely make it to next station.

Yes, if you were in a car, or not splitting traffic, traffic could cause that.

These guys are moving, and his knee is sufficiently far enough away from that truck.

A lot further away than the guy's foot I almost ran over.

Oh woe is me, I can miss one detail and admit when I did. Eeek how will I ever go on. Specially when judging distance by looking at a tiny ass thumbnail that is not blown up to near full sized screen resolution. Oh forgive me sir.

Glad to entertain you.

I was cruising up and down Melrose with a friend last night also. Saw the usual trannies. Couldn't tell if they always dress that way or just for Halloween.

I also saw lots of fine bitches though, walking around in costumes flaunting their tits and ass.

I think Halloween was created to give chicks an excuse to slut it up. Kind of like Mardi Gras.

Ross 10-28-2007 04:45 AM

I'd love to be in Hollywood for Halloween. Glasgow is awesome enough, let alone all the hot rich chicks in Hollywood!
