So I was on Hollywood Blvd tonight . . .
Checking out all the freaks, and to tell you the truth, I am not sure that Halloween weekend made much of a difference.
|
Someone shall play spot the irony here :winkwink:
|
I then cruised down Sunset, and felt like this piece of art was coming back to life for a night.

Even if your perspective was correct (it isn't), I have a feeling that guy will be long gone by the time that light turns green for the eastbound vehicle. I find it odd that a wheelchair bound gentleman would find anything "funny" about the possibility of anyone possibly doing serious harm to someone's leg. |
BTW, you might notice that both biker's feet are off the ground . . . they are obviously moving.
|
You're over-analyzing the fuck out of that painting.
|
Brings back memories:) Mid-90's I lived near Hollywood Blvd. Freak show.

Oh an since you asked, yes it is possible for both directions to be stopped at the same light. Thanks for the gentleman comment though. Seriously lighten up old man. It was a damn observational joke. |

One thing about David Mann, his stuff is very detailed. He would not paint the possibility of a serious injury unless it actually portrayed the accident as it happened. Fact is, he would make a two part painting. Part one would be a horrific accident, bike being crushed, rider flying thru the air into oncoming traffic. Part two would have him sitting on the side of the road, smoking a cigarette, with his buddy comforting him. A white Cadillac will be stopped . . . obviously the car that stopped just in time to not hit him. Mann is quite detailed. |

Besides, both riders feet are off the ground, and they don't appear to be the types to sit in stopped traffic, as evidenced by the fact that they are splitting lanes. |
I couldn't really tell from that little pic, but I recognize that guy's stuff after you mention his name. Isn't he responsible for the Easyriders "look"?

I still feel riding in such a way is dangerous. As for how... umm light further down street since it obviously is a cruise, emergency vehice, pedestrian traffic to name a few possibilities, hell lets toss in a broken down or out of gas vehicle. I do know some from that era only put enough gas in tank to barely make it to next station. |

These guys are moving, and his knee is sufficiently far enough away from that truck. A lot further away than the guy's foot I almost ran over. |

Glad to entertain you. |
