Pretty lame methinks. Everybody knows Playboy is a defunct online enterprise. Pathetic member signup numbers and retention. Now they're using Adult.com as a vehicle to push there unwanted product.

I agree with BrettJ. Playboy could have had a huge hold of things on the web if they knew what they were doing. Adult.com obviously know what they're doing. Combine the branding of Playboy and the expertise of adult.com and you've got a winning combination in my opinion.

playboy hasn't taken advantage of that.

a nother thing - with all those newbies typing in playboy just to find porn - playboy.com was in a unique position to pop these fumbling surfers out to a ton of other niches - serving as a porn gateway - (mostly in the adult.com empire) but that's a helluva thing to get to leverage =)

I'm assuming that Adult.com will be making changes to the Playboy site and that there was more to this partnering than just two bored companies who felt like announcing a partnership between them with no plans to change anything anywhere.

Hopefully Lens is successful with this affilliate task. I'm sure if he does as well as I think he will they will give him the reigns to do everything mentioned above.

I think Playboy's online arm has the ability to generate more revenue than the publishing unit.

Right now they need it too, Maxim, FHM, Stuff & Details have lowered newstand circulation dramatically. Playboy just brought in a new editor which is the same guy who's been running Maxim to breathe a little life into the zine. I don't think they realize that the people who are looking for porn are no longer looking for it in a magazine and bush shots don't do it for anyone under 45. Unless the new editor does some INCREDIBLE covers and gimmicks no one will care about the mag in 5 years, especially if Hef passes (heaven forbid). Online & TV domination is the only real way of passing the torch.
