Best Movies to Watch this Halloween

I usually go with "Wild Zero". It's an awesome flick staring Japanese band "Guitar Wolf" fighting alien created zombies. It's also got a sick drinking game built into the features of the DVD that I can never keep up with.

Also if anyone has the opportunity- Tokyo Zombie is another great film you should check out. It's not as action packed as Wild Zero, but the humor makes up for it.

What are some of your favorite horror movies you like to watch this season?

1408 was good but a little too PG-13. Not as scary as I wanted it to be and I didn't dig the ending. I saw it in the theatre though, I hear the DVD has an alternate ending, hope it's better than the one I saw.

All in all it's not bad though, just more of a psychological thriller vs a scary movie. :2 cents:

Eraserhead is always a good one. They finally started running some good horror on AMC and other channels. Last night we caught Child's Play, Halloween, and Hellraiser II.

The Lost Boys (not scary, but always worth a watch) ;-)

"Death By Stereo"

I love Lost Boys, it's a good movie year round. I heard they are moving forward with the sequal called "the Tribe". It was supposed to have the Corys in in but I heard they dropped them, so maybe it might be worth seeing after all :winkwink:

That Rosanne episode is always classic :pimp

Easily my favorite :thumbsup

I found the page on IMBD:

Lost Boys 2

Looks like they dropped Haim, are keeping Feldman, and are bringing in Tom Savini. Tom Savini rocks :thumbsup

STRANGE LAND is one of the scarriest ever

gornyhuy 10-25-2007 09:27 AM

The Ring, or the japanese version if you are hard core like that.
Poltergeist is still fun too, mainly for nostalgia sake.

Usually I prefer zombie flicks from george romero. Then I'll rewatch some korean horror films such as the phone, memento mori, whispering corridors, wishing stairs and lots. I recently ran a horror film blog but I'm bogged down with projects to review films.

Saw 4 comes out this weekend

SykkBoy 10-25-2007 10:12 AM

The Exorcist and Halloween are sort of Halloween tradition around the Sykk Household...

but I'll probably have to toss in Audition again or maybe even Bad Taste this year

I have a buddy who's never seen Battle Royale and while it's not really a horror movie, it's still pretty damn entertaining...hehe

Bad Taste is a classic. Also Dead Alive is good too.

Ever seen "Meet The Feebles"? Super creepy and super disgusting.

I love Meet The Feebles...I understand there's supposed to be a new special edition DVD coming out soon too...my main gripe with the movie is it's so dark and muddy, it's hard to see things...the special edition DVD is supposed to clean that up for better picture quality...

it may sound pretentious and elitist, but I was a Peter Jackson fan and already proclaiming him a directing God before frame one of Lord of The Rings even rolled ;-)

I even liked The Frighteners :)

SykkBoy 10-25-2007 11:17 AM

speaking of Meet The Feebles...here's The Sodomy Song...

I really liked it. I kind of ignored it when it came out in theaters, but caught it on DVD and it's a pretty damn creepy flick..much better than I thought it would be...

I used to date a guy who made horror movies / did special effect makeup etc. We never wound up going out to NZ, but I used to talk to Fran on the phone every now and then. He had already put out Heavenly Creatures (still my favorite Peter Jackson movie) and was getting big studio attention. He put a deal together to do King Kong back in the mid 90s, but they tabled it because of the Godzilla production with Mathew Broadrick.

After we broke up there was no reason for me to keep up contacts, but I wonder if Kong would have been better if they would have let him put it out then vs now. I think Kong suffered from too much budget, too much freedom, too much time to write and rework the script.:2 cents:

I remember the early rumblings of King Kong....there was an old interview, but I can't remember which site, where Jackson said that his dream was to do a remake of King Kong.

Heavenly Creatures was a great flick too. I think it's Kate Winslet's best performance to date as well.

We've already chosen the shining. Having a little party and watching it.
