USA gets dropped by Formula One (grand prix)!
I,m surprsied to see the new schedule for F1 and that the USA no longer has a formula one race .F1 is such a commerical sport and the usa consumer market is huge ,I would have thought the usa would be its biggest $$$$ goldmine?.
Why does F1 consider the usa does not fit in its plans? maybe its becuase of all the sports there already ? nascar? etc...Discuss.... Here are the full details. It has been confirmed that Singapore will stage Formula One's first night race in 2008. The calendar was released on Wednesday, with Singapore's new circuit included as part of an 18-race season. The Canadian Grand Prix is retained despite previously being given only provisional status, and the French Grand Prix - which had been in doubt - is also included. The European Grand Prix is switching to a new street circuit in Valencia, while The British Grand Prix has been given a date of July 6. The United States race at Indianapolis drops off the schedule while the German Grand Prix returns at Hockenheim. The season will start in Australia on March 16 and concludes in Brazil on November 2. 2008 Formula One calendar: March 16 Australia March 23 Malaysia April 6 Bahrain April 27 Spain May 11 Turkey May 25 Monaco June 8 Canada June 22 France July 6 Britain July 20 Germany Aug 3 Hungary Aug 24 Europe Sep 7 Belgium Sep 14 Italy Sep 28 Singapore Oct 12 Japan Oct 19 China Nov 2 Brazil |
They're obviously terrorists and just jealous of the US's freedom.

umm dude this was old news, bernie announced this like 6 months ago.
indy was a shit circuit anyway, who cares. |
F1 has never caught on in the US and it's somewhat weird, but then again neither has world cup football/soccer.
I can tell you as a general race fan (nascar, indy, motocross, supercross), F1 can be very hard to find on tv here in the US. There are a few races on the SPEED channel, but it's on at odd times, not in HD, and it's generally a paid cable channel. |
Buzzy,Im not a dude ! and it maybe old news to you but it was only confirmed yesterday and so I based it on that...and it wasnt about if a circuit was bad or not ,I was looking at it on a marketing/branding/commercial level.
:thumbsup |
My bad lol. But yeah F1 hasnt really made it in the USA mabye the people there are too dumb to figure it out, but it's still the #1 racing series on the planet. IMO they don't need America but mabye they will try out laguna seca, not a bad circuit that!

that fiasco at indy a few years back blew any chance of f1 staying in the states

I personally can't stand watching people go really fast in circles, or through streets...but then maybe you can't stand to watch people play a card game...it is what it is. |

F1 gave the US a try but it's probably not worth the effort since NASCAR has such a strong hold on race fans and would fair better to concentrate on other parts of the world where F1 is as popular as NASCAR is here in the US |
