Depends how much video work, photoshop batching, etc you're doing. It can save you a LOT of time with the right applications.

If you want a quad core, wait until the new 45nm ones come out early next year. They'll be well worth the wait over the shit ones available now.

That AND the new OS from Apple will have had a little time to mature. After that, picking up a twin quid core and having 16 gig of ram will seriously rock.

thanks guys.
yeah from the little research i was doing many applications still cant utilize the duo/quad core technology the way its ment...but its changing i guess

It's currently the sweet spot in price/performance and power usage. If you're in the market for a new computer, make it a quad core. Incrementally you're only looking at $400 processor instead of what is probably a $200 processor.

Dual Quad cores are great for consolidating several servers to one. Excellent performance for the $$ IMO

BTW we are running some crazy specials on Dual Quad Cores right now. See sig :)

I just built a system based off the Q6600. I like it so far with no issues other than problems with Vista.

Nothing like having Dreamweaver, Photoshop and half a dozen other things open, and still being able to jump in a game then alt tab and do stuff instantly.

just bought one for my nephew, I'll let you know soon!

I have a quad core and really see the difference when crunching video. Of course you have to set up a virtual cluster to take advantage of it, but it is easy enough to do.
