old swami trick..I remember reading about it in a Houdini book whatever way back when I was a kid...if I recall there is a platform that he's resting on that extends off of the wooden pole.

its a bar he is sitting on .. the "cane" is the main bar that is likely bolted into the concrete. it would take some balance but not a super complicated trick as far as tricks go

notice his body is tilted in the exact opposite angle the "cane" is because its bent supporting his weight

I'm thinking the carpet hides a lead plate, and he's sitting on a small platform... probably hidden to casual on-lookers, and the bamboo has a steel rod going up its center that connects the two.

Provided the lead plate covers a decent amount of surface area, and is heavy enough, I'm sure it's support his weight just fine.

But then, that's the physicist in me speaking... in truth, I have no fucking clue. :winkwink:
