A BIG Fat FUCK YOU to Sony!!!

I have always loved Sony products. I have 2 of their PCs and have bought many other things from them in the past. For the last 10 days I have been trying to help out a friend who was promised Vista when she bought a Sony laptop at my recommendation.

She was supposed to register the laptop in 30 days and did not so Sony gave her the run around about getting her Vista upgrade. I said, "let me see what I can do." After 10 days of emails back and forth Sony's final answer was what we knew all along. It wasn't registered in 30 days so no Vista for you!

It amazes me. Together we have spent $6k on Sony PCs in the last 18 months and they can't part with one copy of Vista for her because she had not registered her laptop in 30 days.

This was my last email to them.

Quote:

It is amzing that the fact that we have spent $6000 on sony computers in the last 18 months has no affect on your company's decision to give something that was offered that would basically cost you nothing to do.

I am about to buy a new HDTV - It will NOT be a Sony.
Any and all future electronic purchases I make will NOT be Sony.
I will discourage as many people as I can from buying Sony products.

You just lost one awesome customer that USED to like Sony products. I will spend my money on your competitors products.

BradM 10-23-2007 01:21 PM

That email will surely change their mind. The CEO of Sony is hurt.

In reality the Indian that MAY read it doesn't give a fuck.

baddog 10-23-2007 01:21 PM

I can see their stock dropping now

sortie 10-23-2007 01:23 PM

Coporate red tape. You just need to get to a real person that has some authority and they would give you vista. Employees on the low level will get fired for not holding to the 30 day thing.

sortie 10-23-2007 01:26 PM

BTW: They are probably doing your friend a favor buy not giving her Vista.
A lot of people think it sucks.

DateDoc 10-23-2007 01:27 PM

Nice - they just sent me a survey to fill out - brb time to have some fun!

DateDoc 10-23-2007 01:28 PM

I have a sony desktop and sony laptop for sale - bid now!

Before this last attempt to get it there were numerous phone calls to all kinds of people at sony to no avail.

Bit by bit their reputation is changing. they are not the Sony they used to be.

GAMEFINEST 10-23-2007 01:40 PM

That sucks, all my products are either dell or sony...

PornMogul 10-23-2007 01:41 PM

Why diddnt you just take care of it within 30 days? I got my vista from them no problem. I love sony.

TubeTitans_SusieQ 10-23-2007 01:42 PM

Is it normal for their Vaio's to crash after one year, I've been wanting to get one, but my a few of my friends said that right after their yr warranty was up they crashed real quick....must just be something odd

They make great TV's and monitors. Why anyone thought that meant everything else was great is beyond me.

betamax anyone?

GrouchyAdmin 10-23-2007 02:00 PM

I also consider myself an awesome customer.

Spouting off shit without doing research, again? The Betamax was capable of a much better resolution than VHS. It cost more as it was not an open standard, and until recently, most television productions continued to use it. Just because something loses the battle doesn't mean it's shittier.

MaDalton 10-23-2007 02:02 PM

you should be happy that you got no Vista - thank them and move on ;)

For example: fagdog is winning his battle with old age. When clearly he is shittier.

DateDoc 10-23-2007 02:10 PM

LOL, they just sent me this......

I hate shitty Sony products.

SCtyger 10-23-2007 04:24 PM

Sony: overpriced products. I've since moved to Dell for PCs and Samsung for home electronics.

So, you're saying don't judge them because they have 2 good products, but do judge them for their one failure? Strange logic.

D 10-23-2007 04:27 PM

I swore myself off Sony products over 2 years ago for similar reasons.

The company has issues.

AaronM 10-23-2007 04:27 PM

Sony PC's suck ass and so does their support on them.

tony286 10-23-2007 04:27 PM

go to hoovers online and find out who the ceo in the usa and overnight a letter saying all the things you said. You will get a response. Email doesnt work for those things and at the low level they dont give a shit.

sandman! 10-23-2007 04:29 PM

I allways laugh when i see people buying comps from sony they are the most overpriced comps out there you can find.

Well apple is a whole diffrent ballgame but why someone would buy a sony laptop when for the same price you can get a thinkpad i dont get i dont think lenova has had time to fuck up the IBM quality yet :)

sandman! 10-23-2007 04:44 PM

Best laptop for the $$$$ is dell when they are on sale not a high end laptop but allmost allways best for the $$$

Best laptop if your going to work it to the ground either a thinkpad or an hp/compaq armada or whatever they are calling thier biz laptops nowdays.

Drake 10-23-2007 04:45 PM

Sony has sucked for a long time. Go elsewhere for quality product and support.

Viper2K1 10-23-2007 04:52 PM

for me it was the opposite ...

I normally wouldn't qualify for a "free" (25 euro S&H LOL) vista upgrade, as I bought my vaio like 4-5 weeks too soon.

I registered for the upgrade, filled out a purchase date that would qualify me for a vista upgrade and finished the registration with my cc-info.
Then I got the instructions to mail/fax a copy of my invoice and that after they got it they'd charge my cc and send me the upgrade.

I didn't send them anything, but like 2 months later the vista upgrade was in my mailbox :)

You need to put your COMPLAINT in writing (on paper) and send it via CERTIFIED MAIL with RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTED to their corporate office. No one who has a serious complaint sends it by e-mail and gets results. Companies don't understand e-mail. They do, however, understand certified mail.

But as was said previously, Vista is horrible and they are doing you a favor,

Are they same Sony that hasn't learned a fucking thing since Betamax? BlueRay.. I rest my case.

pornguy 10-23-2007 09:03 PM

Seems big companies dont have a problem screwing people. Dell shorted me a harddrive on my new laptop, and now they say that this model does not come with 2 hard drives. Funny though of you go to their site and build one like I did, they still offer it, and charge you for it.

Now I have to find the time to argue with them. At this rate, this is my first and last dell.

Dell is terrible. I bought my first and my last Dell a while ago. I didn't have that piece of shit for longer than couple of months before the CTRL key broke off. That laptop sucked. It still sits in the corner of my office on a shelf, gathering dust.
