What book are you reading right now? (if you are or know how to read)
I go on this bends once in a while where I can't stop reading. I'm hooked on Templar Knights Order right now, I’ve been reading everything I can find about them.. What kind of books do you like to read?
|
Right now I am reading Stone Henge by Bernard Cornwell. He writes historical fiction and is very talented. His trilogy called The Saxon Novels was amazing. It was about the invasion of 9th century England by the Danes (or Vikings as they are commonly referred to). Awesome books.

currently reading The Moor's Last Sigh a 1995 novel by Salman Rushdie
Amazon.com "In The Moor's Last Sigh Salman Rushdie revisits some of the same ground he covered in his greatest novel, Midnight's Children. This book is narrated by Moraes Zogoiby, aka Moor, who speaks to us from a grave in Spain. Like Moor, Rushdie knows about a life spent in banishment from normal society--Rushdie because of the death sentence that followed The Satanic Verses, Moor because he ages at twice the rate of normal humans. Yet Moor's story of travail is bigger than Rushdie's; it encompasses a grand struggle between good and evil while Moor himself stands as allegory for Rushdie's home country of India. Filled with wordplay and ripe with humor, it is an epic work." |
Honestly I am reading a really old cookbook that has a great deal of colonial and latter recipes from chuch cookbooks and such in them.

You look it up. It's the 1971 best science fiction prize winner.
|
I'm reading the Club Dumas.
|
Life of Pi, right now. Went to Barnes & Noble the other day, and tried finding books that I wouldn't normally read, 'cuz I'm running out of books written by authors that I know. Ended up with Life of Pi (interesting so far), Kavalier & Clay, and The Gun Seller (how can you go wrong with Hugh Laurie?).

Wednesday is COMIC DAY so I'll have a bunch of comics to read later :upsidedow
As far as novels go, I'm almost done reading 'Caught Stealing' by Charlie Huston He's got a different style from anyone I've read before: http://www.pulpnoir.com/ |
Also these two books I just read by Malcolm Gladwell were excellent! The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference. Blink: The Power of Thinking without Thinking. The Tipping Point is about a different type of viral marketing, and Blink is about fast decision making.

Aside from my textbooks for academic pursuits, I'm reading Descartes' Meditations on First Philosophy, and Jim Butcher's Storm Front, as recommended by a good friend.

I just finished reading this about a month ago - http://www.amazon.com/Dirt-Confessio...3257803&sr=8-1. Even though I think a lot of it is exagerrated, it is still a fucking kickass book and would recommend it. :thumbsup

ATM... The Mafia Manager: A Guide to the Corporate Machiavelli
nothing spectacular... but has interesting advices :pimp |
In the meantime I am reading some stuff about the US and UK business law as it's something that interests me and as I would like to start a company over there someday soon.
Apart from that I also read Fist Stick Knife Gun: A Personal History of Violence in America by Geoffrey Canada - a very interesting book focusing on what is described in the title, I seriously admire that man. |
The Ultimate Space Hit or, USH 1X by Ooh the Sloth. I know, why would you ever pick up a book by an author named Ooh the Sloth? but it is actually quite good.
it's about a boy, Sonicboy Wellbutrin, who comes from a planet called Ravulon, where they hold Raves all day and night. he thinks there is more to life than partying, so he goes in search of other planets that hold other values higher than partying. it's a fun book written in kinda the Chuck Palanuik style (Fight Club) and makes one think about our own culture and what we value. |
I too am on an Historical Fiction kick. I read "I, Elizabeth" and then went on to read the Tristan and Isolde Trilogy and am working through the Guenevere Trilogy. I'm also reading a book called The Poe Shadow which is about the death of Edgar A. Poe.
AND I just finished reading a travel book called "Getting Stoned with Savages" which was great. The same author wrote a book called "The Sex Lives of Cannibals" which I think I may pick up next. I tried to read Barak Obama's "the Audacity of Hope" but jesus, does the guy know how to punctuate a sentence? I swear some of his sentences go on for an entire paragraph - literally. You can easily get lost in his verbiage. May try it again later, but wow. Not impressed so far and I was hoping for so much... |
American Gods by Neil Gaiman. So far it's not his most interesting work...
|
before i go to bed and sleep i always read some inspirational books. i just finished the book entitled "What Am I Living For" and now I'm reading "Nobody's Perfect" same author by Ed Lapiz.
|
Never found "self help" books to be that helpful... unless you count lining the author's pockets.
|

|
Just finished "The Hellbound Heart" by Clive Barker.
Started "The Odyssey" by Homer a few weeks ago |
Right now I'm reading "Gridlinked" by Neal Asher.
Just finished the third book of "The Golden Age" trilogy by John C Wright. Those were damn good, if you like extreme hard science fiction. |
