What could eventually cause me to leave this place.
 

More and more so each and every day I ponder why I bother coming here. I am not in it for the drama, could care less about the would you hit it threads, and the business threads are sparse. I suppose the thing keeping me here really is the hope that I can still find a few people to work with and that some others that I already work with also call this place home.

Though the stupidity level around here has been pushing me to the point of actually questioning why in the hell do I put up with this place. Sure I used to love a good debate on something non business related as the rest of you but holy fuck, even that is gone and we are left with well idiots and kids in stupidity pissing matches. Honestly there is not even a reason to play devils advocate in debates around here as well the idiots reign supreme and remove all logical thought from even the simplest of topics.

I really do not expect much to change, I seriously doubt many will suddenly grow up or that others will find some new found grasp on how to use their minds in a productive manor that does not involve re quoting other web garbage as their own gospel. Yes the free thinkers have become the minority.

I know most would not give a shit, many will also welcome my departure and hell even cheer me on in following posts to leave. Yet this is just something I felt I needed to get off my chest before I snapped. Yes I know this is GFY, yes I know what the original spirit of the board was all about. Somehow though it just has devolved into the lowest common denominator of what it was or should of been.

Actually since you decided to ask, though I have been in constant contact with the buyers. The auction held did not raise the full amount and sadly the chair company representative informed me that I would need to get an additional operation on my left leg to use the chair. This I fully intend to do once I am physically healthy enough to go under the knife again. I need to have my tendons cut in my left leg so that it will again bend like it should normally since over the years that legs tendon has tightened up to much and it does not have enough mobility to allow use of the chair without physical harm. However every single cent is sitting safely in an interest baring account along with the extra amount (given as a wedding gift by brother and father combined) until I am able to get my operation.

Meanwhile I am using most of my other revenue to continue my business and to pay off my previous medical bills from my four month stay this year. Thanks for asking though.

I explained why I felt compelled. I did not say I was leaving yet, I said would could eventually cause me to leave. I also still get a good amount of business from this place though probably not as much as you do if your counting in your hosting work. I also do not post purely for business. As I said I enjoy a good debate or even off topic threads. It just has been well the stupidity that has been getting on my nerves.

I guess the reasoning is to let off some steam. Though I assure you when I say I am leaving I will remain gone. That just is not yet now.

Deep down inside, mankind has the need to interface and interact with our peers and acquaintances. It is the very nature of man.

The internet puts many of us in a weird situation of having nobody in our business to interface with on a regular basis. Chat boards provide that interface.

That being said, this place has been getting dumber, lamer, and more packed with surfers all the time. But that changed the flavor not the need.

I also though do my best to give back, even when I could not afford it. Be it cash donations to others causes or just friendly help with no strings attached.

on EVERY board EVER on teh interwebs old timers will post about how the board has gone to shit and it's time to move on - there's always some truth to it - boards do have their golden eras and it's usually early on in their existence with the right mix of posters leading the way. so GFY has seen its best days for sure but until I find a board that is as active both in posting and lurkers I'll stay here - if there was another board that took the lead I'd be over there now.

My social life is fine, I have a wife, a decent house, plenty of friends, and well a vast assortment of daily shit most may take for granted. So I really do not need to do anything else.

Reality is I do not post here that much, maybe 10 times a day on average. So I doubt by anyone's standard that I live on this board.

The other big factor that keeps me around here is my fondness for new webmasters. For a long time it was possible to catch many before they became tainted and work with them, often though they now come here with pre concieved notions and pre tainted. :disgust
