Brewer Offers Free Lifetime Beer Supply For Lost Laptop

Harriette Cecilio - AHN News Writer

Wellington, New Zealand - A New Zealand brewer will give a free lifetime supply of beer to anyone who can return the company laptop that contains all its financial reports, new label designs and important contracts with suppliers and customers.

Croucher Brewing Co. will be happy to extend deluxe service and complimentary drinks to the person who can turn over the computer, which was lost during a break-in.

"So we decided that if anyone does come into possession of it we'll be happy to offer them a reward - a dozen (bottles) of beer," said company co-owner Paul Croucher said Friday.

The reward of 12 free beers monthly has an estimated value of $19,500.

Croucher said several people have called to express interest over the reward and assured owners they were looking for the missing computer.

Croucher suspects the laptop may have been lost to some "opportunistic kids." He also admitted the beer manufacturing facility was using a "flimsy padlock."

"We'd love (the computer) back. We're at such a critical stage in our little business that every hit like that is quite big," he said.

Croucher, which is based in the central North Island tourist town of Rotorua, ships 605 liter of beer weekly to various parts of New Zealand.

Among its bestsellers are the English-style Pale Ale, Czech-style Bohemian pilsner and a cloudy German wheat beer called Hef. It also sells special limited edition "seasonal" beers from time to time.

But New Zealand winemaker Montana had warned the microbrewery to ensure its free beer reward terms were clear. The winery had found itself embroiled in a legal suit when a winner of an offer of five years' free wine tried to extend the promo period.

12 bottles a month?

What kind of beer company thinks that is a life time supply?
I think this calls for at least a beer a day minimum to qualify as a lifetime supply.

People want cash not beer. That would be a lot less than 19k to them.

Cheap asses.

I rarely drink beer and that would not be a lifetime's worth for even me.
