It's actually Kubuntu 7.04. 7.10 doesn't like my ATI video card (suspend/resume bugs because ATI haven't updated it for the new kernel yet.)

He's running GNOME, so that's probably XOrg's xinerama; it's built in.

One last question mate........I see you are running XP pro SP2 from within Kubuntu........is the xp installation located on a remote machine or a different partition???

Neither. It's running on this machine at the same time, using a local file as a virtual hard disk within VMWare Server (A free product from VMWare, installable directly from the 'commercial' software repository in Ubuntu.)

You can technically have it use a disk partition, but I don't like doing that with VMWare Server. I don't trust it enough to do that.

But you do have kubuntu and XP installed in separate partitions right?......so if my logic is correct you can install VMware server in Kubuntu and have this application access the partition where XP is installed in order to make it active through a window..........does that make any sense?.........Im kinda lost here.....I just saw that screenshot which represents the solution to many of my OS related problems.......

You can. I have a 'virtual disk' partition in the screenshot, and a separate partition for XP if I want to boot into it directly, so I basically have two copies of Windows. I use one under VMware, and another for Windows "native."

You'd set this in 'disk use' under the VMWare config with the proper partition table when you install VMWare server to use your 'actual partition' for Windows.

Dam.... that is tight.........I have to figure out how to do it on my machine...I have vista already installed in my C drive (takes about 40Gb with all my appz)....So Id need to set aside another 40GB through VMware to use this virtual disk partition and run kubuntu /vista simultaneously.......

That's a lot of thinking for one night.......I'll watch a movie, think about it and do it later.........hopefully I won't mess up my primary OS...:winkwink:

:smokin I'm a risk taker... :winkwink:

The dual monitor is handled by TwinView within X11, with the help of NVidia's software. It makes managing a dual screen pretty easy.

The dock at the bottom is Avant Window Navigator. It's essentially the same as the dock that will be available on Mac's Leopard OS.

It has app Launchers as well as displaying other apps that have been launched. It has a bunch of different animations, allowing it to tell you different things. When you mouse over, it zooms like Mac's dock does, but when someone sends me an IM, it spins the icon and shows a spotlight underneath, like you see in my screen shot.

It's really quite handy :)
