So, for the first time in my life, and from now on...

..I have to wear glasses.

At least for reading, watching TV, working online, etc. Everything up close.

I have them on right now actually, and although the vision is improved drastically with them on to the point that I'm elated about it.... god I feel old.

Your's truly,

Whats the reason???

FredIsMe 10-18-2007 03:08 PM

Glasses are cool, though I wear contacts most of the time.

For me it's been long overdue actually. I probably should have had them at least when I was 40, probably even a bit earlier than that.

Right now I can't believe how big the letters are on everything, even that fine print on the back of bank docs and CC statements. :D

I suppose next is a cane, then the wheelchair parts will be arriving monthly.

Brother Bilo 10-18-2007 03:09 PM

I hate wearing glasses, but my contacts have been killing me lately so I've had to wear them. I hate it.

Can't wait to get Lasik done.

Astigmatism. Worse in one eye than the other, apparently it's a tricky prescription.

And expensive.

Snake Doctor 10-18-2007 03:13 PM

Sorry to hear. One of the guys that I know that works in Adult just started wearing glasses as well. His eyes started to hurt about 4 months after he started using dual flat screens. He is not blaming the use of them, but kind of funny that 5 years of puter work and nothing, and then bam.

I find myself having trouble reading when there is certain kind of lighting, and having to hold things at an angle.

I bought some over the counter reading glasses, and use those sometime, but I get what you mean. I have had great eye sight all of my life, everyone else in my family has had o wear glasses since they were kids, so it's been one of those things where I felt kind of proud to not have to.

But yep, hit 41 and shit's just starting to fall apart.

GAMEFINEST 10-18-2007 03:52 PM

i wear glasses and i look sexii . ..

It does when you've never needed them in your life ever, then you hit your 40's and like Eros said, "shit starts to fall apart"

It's definitely a sign, yes.

That and when there's a sudden change in the weather and my back starts to ache. Ayuhp.... definitely signs of wear and tear.

voa 10-18-2007 04:34 PM

Bro Media - BANNED FOR LIFE 10-18-2007 04:49 PM

glasses arnt that bad, i used to have to wear em, well i still do technically, but i lost them about 5 years ago and just never got a new pare

GrouchyAdmin 10-18-2007 04:51 PM

I should be, but I'm too vain. The world is easier through a little bit of fuzz.. and people are a lot less ugly.

viki 10-18-2007 04:52 PM

I've been wearing glasses as long as I can remember... I had them in kindergarten. My vision was always pretty bad and about a month ago I started getting daily headaches. Turns out in the course of a year, the vision in one of my eyes got twice as bad.

I just got these new glasses a month ago and am astonished at how much more I can see. Though, as you said, it sucks to feel like you're falling apart.

Gina Cochina 10-18-2007 04:52 PM

I like glasses. Guys look hot in glasses.

I have been waering the reading glasses for over 10 years now.

ahhhhhhhhh.. same here. Right eye worse then my left one. Still able to see without them, but soo much clearer and less headaches with them on.

Been with them all my life.. so am used to it. Asked for contacts once.. too expensive at the time and the hassle of changing almost daily since tricky prescription.. said fuck it. am used to glasses so not worth the time and hassle.

But least I know of someone else who has same eyesight problem!

Malicious Biz 10-19-2007 07:43 AM

Atleast they will open up new career opportunities:winkwink::winkwink:

I know the feeling...I'm so pissed. I went to the doctor Wednesday and while waiting, checked out the eye chart. 20 years ago I was 20/13. Today I am 20/25. My ego won't let me get glasses yet...but my daily headaches are trying to convince me it is time!

I will be considering that too, maybe sometime on 2008 I'll get that done.

But for now I actually don't mind the glasses, so far anyway.

Ego may have played a part in it for me, but also laziness. I just wasn't motivated to go get them, my vision was always pretty okay, a little tough to read fine print and those tiny numbers in the phone book etc, but for general non-reading vision I always was and still am just fine. I just kept putting it off and putting it off but yes, the headaches were getting more frequent, and it was starting to piss me off when I'd have trouble deciphering a phone # in the book, or having to jump up and get close to the TV to read the closing text of a movie, etc.

With these glasses on, whenever I get up to walk everything is all shimmery and the world goes a little off-kilter. I'm told that feeling will pass in a while.

L-Pink 10-20-2007 09:41 AM

Howie Long looks good with glasses, do you look like Howie?

pixiewillow 10-20-2007 09:51 AM

I've been wearing glass since I was 13 and now I think I look odd without them. My husband prefers me wearing glasses also, likes the nerdy look...
