However, if you want speed up browsing, try http://www.opera.com the fastest browser on earth.

Vista may transfer data faster, but overall as a system it is slower. But if you are just measuring dataflow, it may be quicker.

Vista has no packet scheduling

Vista is faster in every regard except for OpenGL games.

I have some isssues with vista

I have not really had any issues with Vista yet.
Had to go and find some drivers for some programs, but nothing major.

if you really want to speed shit up, a PF firewall rocks .. have them everywhere i use internet regularily

Vista hasn't sped up browsing, it's just slowing it down less.

For the little while I used Vista, I did notice a speed increase online... but not nearly as much since I switched over to Fedora.

I get way faster speeds now than I did with XP or Vista.

I wonder if UBUNTU will yield higher speeds as well... I'm thinking of switching my laptop OS to Ubuntu.

Why not try it? With any luck, it won't support your network card.

....those OS are great for web surfing and a few office tasks (fedora, Ubuntu)....If it were possible to install windows programs in a Linux/Unix system I'd migrate my stuff in a heartbeat.....

no way. I'm sticking to XP for now.

at first i thought vista rocked but now i am converted. vista sucks all the way across the board. glad i am able to roll back to xp. might do it this weekend.

If you read up on IPV6 you will see why speed increases has happenend. Vista supports IPV6 and most ISP's now assign IPV6 and IPv4 addresses. If the server your connecting to supports IPv6 you will def see a speed increase it isnt really so much vista just newer technology's.
