Bootcamp, Time Machine and Spaces. Those three alone are worth it to me. Really looking forward to those.

well, if microsoft would charge $150 for each service pack there would be tons of complaints - but for mac users that seems to be ok :winkwink:

but to be fair it's not a SP, it's a pretty major upgrade, not just fixes that should have been in version 1.

CyR 10-16-2007 10:55 PM

For me a full release of Bootcamp sold it. Sure the other applications will be a great addition, but there's some totally useless additions as well. Then again, most OS's come with a bit of bloat/eyecandy.

Are you stupid? Each major releases has several updates for free, for example. When I bought my Mac I was runing 10.4 I have now over time run free updates and I am on 10.4.10. OSX 10.5 is the next major release of course its going to cost money its different OS plus its 64bit. A mjaor release from Apple comes out every couple of years just like windows.

on average since apple released osx apple users have paid approx $800 each for upgrades to their OS

since windows xp has come out I have paid nothing in upgrades to my OS

SP2 was a major release, on the same level as any osx upgrade

I own apples, I own pc's, I love them both equally, but you can't sit there and tell me that steve jobs is playing fair when it comes to os updates

Sure hope you don't get your account shit canned for breaking their rules. Apple doesn't allow links on adult sites. :2 cents:

Not having a go at you, just wanted to say that from 10.0 to 10.5 they've atleast added a host of new features and so on, where XP to SP2 have just been security patches and a few extra things. I own both, I run WinXP on Bootcamp (and VMware for smaller programs that will run emulated), so yeah I need to pay for both >_<

oh, i totally agree 100%....this next upgrade is going to be rockin for sure

I just think Apple is infamous for making people pay out the ass for the littlest shit, and it gets annoying

h0st 10-17-2007 12:14 AM

Can't wait to order it to my iMac 24" 2.8Ghz, 4Gb, 1TB!

What "little shit" do they make you pay for? There is no reason to buy every version of OS X that had come out, just because the newer version was released didn't mean you had to buy it, the older versions are just as good. However, Leopard is completely new, so it's a reasonable thing to upgrade to. Keep in mind the OS X Leopard is only $129 with everything. I believe Vista Premium is like $240 and it's a rip off of OS X from two generations ago, and is pure crap. When the fuck did XP even come out like 10 years ago or something, that's pretty sad.

$129 ain't shit as far as software prices go, some people spend more than that on latte's each month.

I am not talking about me here, I am talking about the millions of mac owners that have spent an average of $800 per person on upgrades, if you could read you would know that, but being a mac fanboy I guess you expect the info to be planted into your head instead of having to read and learn

even mac people admit that the upgrade prices for each new mac upgrade are ridiculous, the only people that defend them are these type of people

Looks ok. I'm not super-excited about it

riddler 10-17-2007 07:47 AM

tested leopard up to build 559 which is the last and it is basically a service pack, it runs a little smoother..

spaces = something unix/linux has had since the day of xwindows
time machine = overhyped backup feature.
