Money doesn't buy happiness. True or False?

I'm going with FALSE.

Money makes me happy and all you other greedy bastards in this industry better not lie and say it doesn't matter.

Pleasurepays 10-15-2007 05:05 PM

if you define happiness as really hot hookers and cocaine... money can buy quite a bit of happiness.

webmasterchecks 10-15-2007 05:06 PM

it doesnt buy happiness all in itself, but it sure makes things easier

porntertainment 10-15-2007 05:07 PM

Sure it does, you just don't know where to shop. :winkwink:

Money can RENT happiness.

High Plains Drifter 10-15-2007 05:11 PM

Money is one part of a ten-piece puzzle to happiness. All the pieces are needed.

xNetworx 10-15-2007 05:12 PM

Money won't MAKE you happy (necessarily)

But it can buy happiness imo

slapass 10-15-2007 05:12 PM

I am going with false. It makes so many things in life so much easier it is hard not to be happy.

Halcyon 10-15-2007 05:12 PM

Money can certainly eliminate stresses that get in the way of happiness.

But happiness can also be defined alot of ways (short term/long term)

I'm happy when I'm eating an expensive meal with friends...but would I be happy eating it alone...or with a paid companion? ;)

F U S I O N 10-15-2007 05:16 PM

False. Money can buy me freedom and freedom would make me happy :)

tblake 10-15-2007 05:22 PM

I heard Arnold S. say it best- Money doesn't buy happiness. I am no more happy now that I have 40 Million as when I only had 10 Million..

i second that

Money enables.

But happiness is in the soul, and has no monetary prerequisite.

I was happy when I was eating a cheap meal with friends. Now when I can eat anything and everywhere I want, the meal doesn't bring me any happiness. I just don't pay any attention to food at all.

It was a happiness when I was wanting to buy something (a good book, a video game, a new hardware or just a good expensive dainty/drink or anything else), was saving money for it till the day I was able to buy it. Now I don't feel any happiness when I'm buying something I was unable to buy when I was younger.

pornguy 10-15-2007 05:27 PM

It sure as hell helps to deaden the pain.

beta-tester 10-15-2007 05:27 PM

The answer is definitely: True! Money DOES NOT buy happiness!!

Money can buy shit......
fuck that.

Unlimited 10-15-2007 05:35 PM

money can buy you some beer

JamesK 10-15-2007 05:41 PM

In most situations yes it can.

CyberHustler 10-15-2007 05:42 PM

Money can buy SOME happiness.

FredIsMe 10-15-2007 05:43 PM

It depends on the person.

If you prefer to live a comfortable life, like most, then money will make you happy.

Corleone 10-15-2007 05:43 PM

well as long as we cant eat, fuck or party with money( the bills) I say its true.

ry0t 10-15-2007 05:53 PM

I have to go with true. A lot of people with money are sad and that can be for any reason. I just thought of the example that even celebrities do drugs some might want to escape reality.

Money can make things a lot easier and allows you to do the things that you want to do. If you are big into golfing, money can buy your way on the greatest courses in the world. if you are into music, money can buy you the best music equipment in existence. If you love to travel, money can send you to every end of the Earth.

I'm sitting here thinking about the one thing that truly makes me happy... and no, money cannot touch that or even influence it.

Happiness is from within. If you are a happy person, a bowl of white rice will make you happy. If you need money or toys or big houses or fast cars to make you happy, then you aren't really a happy person. Take those away and what do you have?

My mother, who has given me a lot of good advice, told me "money won't buy you happiness, but it will make you much more comfortable while you're miserable".

Adam_M 10-15-2007 08:37 PM

I have friends who live week to week, some are happy and some arn't. I also have friends who would be worth over $100 million some of them are happy and some of them arn't.
So I would have to say no, money wont make you happy. I think it has more to do with what you make of your life.

Arkantiger 10-15-2007 09:10 PM

Money will make you happy for a while until there is nothing you need anymore and have everything you want.

Sosa 10-15-2007 09:10 PM

makes things alot easier

minusonebit 10-15-2007 09:14 PM

The person who claims money cant buy happiness clearly has never been without any.

Vitasoy 10-15-2007 09:19 PM

It has some truth to it, but without money you won't be happy either

Ahem, I don't think I could script life better than this:

Quote:

Dave: Why would you ask for a raise so big it would cripple the station?
Bill: Greed.
Dave: And what has that greed gotten you?
Bill: Money.
Dave: And what can that money ultimately buy?
Bill: Happiness, but stop trying to cheer me up!

bobby666 10-15-2007 10:42 PM

martinsc 10-15-2007 10:56 PM

Agree :thumbsup

It's nice to have some money, especially if you "need" it - but after a level it means little and also has little to do with "happiness". In fact, depending - it can be damned boring.

But... there always will be slaves to a dollar :winkwink:

That sounds logical

Money can give you more choices. Those choices will either make you happy or depressed. It's all in the user.

Thats very interesting. Good points.

BlueDesignStudios 10-16-2007 02:22 AM

If you send me all your money you can buy my happiness

polish_aristocrat 10-16-2007 02:26 AM

people around you give hapiness, not money

unless you want to spend your days fucking hookers and eating alone in expensive restaurants

Mutt 10-16-2007 02:29 AM

if you think money buys happiness you surely haven't been around many rich people. the older the money is usually means the more unhappiness and dysfunctions people have. people who were poor and worked and became rich are happier than old money - they have the sense of accomplishment that gives them confidence and pride.

there are happy rich people but definitely not more happy rich people than happy middle class people - i'm leaving out people who are at the poverty/subsistence level - even some of those people are happy but let's face it, being poor usually does mean misery for a big proportion of people in a capitalist developed country.

from my own observations i'd say the happiest group of people I know are middle class.

Rui 10-16-2007 02:35 AM

I've got to knew people that I would without a doubt consider and call POOR that are surely allot more happy than most of those here with money.

I'm kinda sad people do think money is the "magic potion" to everything, then again in this day and age I'm not surprised (even though I'm pretty sure at one time or another they will think otherwise...)

Some of you seem so much out of reality its scary...

littleslut5 10-16-2007 02:50 AM

money buys shoes and sextoys........ shoes + sextoys= HAPPINESS

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 10-16-2007 02:58 AM

People create problems for themselves rich or poor.

However I am sure that if a poll was to be done about rich people one would find that the majority of them are quite happy while poor tend to be less happy.

Thats kinda a no brainer.
