computer industry has been doing huge steps for near two decades. Windows 3.1 and 95 where the latest versions of Windows 2.something. That period of time they were plenty graphical O.S. available. The difference is that Windows is the one that got established through time. Microsoft didn't innovate in reality.

Wasn't Commodore the first to come out with a GUI? Remember Geos? I think it was out before even Apple had their GUI...
http://www.zimmers.net/geos/ And now Gateway sits on the Amiga technology and won't release it... |

generally, part of the EUA is that you can't "sell" anything you create ... at least that's true for Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, etc... |

You all defend Microsoft now, till MSNAdult comes out in full force! Am I against Microsoft? No. Not at all. If Microsoft wouldn't of played hardball like they did/do, then someone else would've. Do I like Bill Gates? I'd like to meet him and pick his brain a little bit. I saw a recent interview with him when he came to Montreal not too long ago and he shared a bit of his vision for the industry over the next decade. It is interesting how much more realistic it is than his previous visions of convergence of PC and the House. How your fridge would have PC built in it, and you could order your groceries from your fridge, blah blah blah. Sounded like crap to me. Now it's more of an evolution that he talks about.
But there's other geniuses in the industry that should get recognition, like Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak who without them, we probably would not of had a home PC the same way we do now. They created Apple computers. But I'm going off on a tangent here. Deal is, we SHOULD pay for the software, but unfortunately we've become acustomed to buying really bad products that are full of bugs that don't always get fixed. Microsoft has caused as many headaches as it cures with it's software solutions. For example the HUGE bug in Excel where a large file can spontaneously be corrupted and CANNOT be fixed. There is no known cause for it according to MS and it caused a few of my old clients to lose a few days of work, and some $$. Trials are only good if they're time-bombed. A trial that is crippled is useless. I would never test a car if the sales rep told me "Ok, this demo turns right and you don't get brakes. But if you buy it, we'll let you do those functions". People buy from brands they trust. Microsoft doesn't have the people's trust. Btw, I will be the Bill Gates of Adult. Let it be known. I'm going after the leader. I'm staging a Coup D'Etat! :thumbsup |
That's kinda like saying people still buy CD's now a days. :1orglaugh
